On December the 12th, at 13:00 hrs., at the City Hall patio, the Department of Culture will inaugurate the first exhibition of the Vallarta Collection.
The exhibition, presented within the framework of the 153rd anniversary of the Vallarta Celebration, which was founded in 1851 by Guadalupe Sanchez Torres, presents the works of 26 significant artists who represent 55 years of Vallartan visual arts history.
The intention of the initiative, which resulted from a citizen’s proposal in collaboration with cultural authorities, is to assist in preserving the artistic richness of the municipality, as well as to offer public recognition of the path taken by those creators who have contributed in a decisive way to the development of the visual arts in the community.
According to the commitment given by the municipal mayor, Gustavo González Villaseñor, the Vallarta Collection will have an appointed space for the permanent exhibition in the facilities of the Casa de la Cultura, which, in concordance with the current plan, is to occupy the ground floor of the Municipal Presidency and is scheduled to be finished at the end of next year.
The authors who make up the Vallarta Collection are, in chronological order: Ramón Barragán, Joaquín Rodríguez Pedroza, Esteban Ramírez Güereño, Manuel Lepe, Daniel Lechón, Manuel Martínez, Ed Starr, Daniel Incháurregui, Javier Niño, José Marca, Regino Carrillo, Elena Munguía, Marta Gilbert, Meg Munro, Ada Colorina, Martina Goldberg, Cathy Von Rohr, Manuel Adriá, Roberto Bermejo, Francisco Sanmiguel, Tellosa, Ramiz Barquet, Octavio González, Edgar Martínez, Francisco Quintero y Jorge Rico.
