Corinne Duriez's Realistic Felines
Provided by Ambito
Recently we had the opportunity to admire recent works by French artist Corinne Duriez, who now lives and works in our fair city.
Corinne devoted this show to felines. She is a realistic artist with a love of wild fauna, which she portrays in idyllic scenery, inspired by the exuberant vegetation around Puerto Vallarta.
She has a passion for detail, and she painstakingly paints leaves one by one, as well as tiger’s whiskers. The result is a wonderfully real feel to her art. Corinne also succeeds in capturing the emotions and the personality of her characters, and we can find a mighty Bengal tiger lying peacefully, in an unexpectedly tranquil attitude; or a cheetah resting on a tree branch. She also portrays scenes of animal family life, with lion cubs playing around their father. It was a wonderful exhibition.
In a brief conversation with the artist, we learned that she is already working on her next show, which will be about birds. I can’t wait to see it. Knowing her talent, feathered creatures will be an excellent opportunity for her to explore textures and colors.
Her paintings can be viewed at Beatriz Narvaez Gallery on Leona Vicario St. Downtown.
