HIDDEN PLACES IN BANDERAS BAY

Ada Colorida -Rural Studio & Gallery
By: Jesús de Avila - The Editor - September 2006 - Leer en Español

Ada Colorida, recognized as the ambassador of the spirit of Mexico, at present is one of the painters that more have represented Puerto Vallarta, its people and its commonness, in local and international galleries and exhibitions. Through her works the artist always shares an extension of her essence with scenes where the personages of a town or a typical Mexican ranchito are always distinguished, living together in harmony with the nature.

Inside the naive style, some classified the work of the artist as folkloric or regional. What ever the case is, the truth is that in her works is always distinguished an intense color that reflects the happiness of each scene or of each moment expressed in each one of her paintings.

In order to make the observation of her pictorial work enriching, the artist maintains her Rural Studio and Gallery open to public. Visiting this place is an excellent opportunity to experience the encounter with the typical art of Vallarta that beyond being a usual visit to a gallery becomes an intimate and familiar contact.

The Rural Studio and Gallery of Ada Colorida is located in the second floor of what is also her home, aspect that increases the enrichment of the experience. From the moment that a step is taken into the studio, the visitor is transported toward a space where the connection with the typical, traditional and simple, is the source of a sensation of cordiality and adventure. Each space and each corner of the house, the studio and the gallery, enclose a story or a memory that often can become a great and fun conversation topic between the artist and the visitors.

On the second floor of the house, where a balcony with a view is located toward an impressive wall of rocks that during the rain storms becomes a waterfall downward the river, the permanent exhibition of some of her works, captures the complete attention of all senses of who observes it. To admire her work requires infiltrating unto the present moment, not thinking in what it means or in what it signifies, just to contemplate, so then, without knowing how it happens, to be transported into the interior of the painting, and there, listen to the several stories that are told of every personage, every event, or every place.

Definitely the Rural Studio and Gallery of Ada Colorida is a “Hidden Place in The Banderas Bay” that is worth to visit during your next visit to Puerto Vallarta.

Additional to the experience of visiting the studio where very probably you will be received and personally attended by the artist, the tour in direction to the area where is located, is by itself another cultural adventure very apart and that for many has become a unique, because besides putting them in friendly and direct contact with the local people, it has led them to discover one of the most alive and fresh natural spaces of the city, which is the creek of the Cuale River. Where by the way in more than one occasion is possible to observe children playing and wading in the river. During the whole tour on the way to the studio the visitor is accompanied by the sound of water while the river flows.

Depending the place where you are, to arrive to the studio is necessary to take what is called the “libramiento” avenue, same that independently if you come from south or north will take you to the point of meeting with the entrance of Colonia Buenos Aires –which is identified with a bus stop on a bridge and a traffic light– so that after crossing it following the creek of the river a new bridge will be found which is the entrance to Colonia Paso Ancho, where the home of the painter is located.

It is always recommendable for the first time to use a taxi as a way of transportation, and although the schedule to the public is consistent, is very recommendable to call before to notify that a visit will be done. In this way is very probable that inclusively the artist to welcome you will prepare refreshing drinks for your arrival.

Well, the invitation is done… now it only depends of your spirit of adventure and your artistic and cultural curiosity for you to respond.
