Exhibition of Ada Colorida - Joy and Color for everyone
By Silvia Álvarez - January 2007.

Joy is Ada Colorina’s motivation which is reflected in her paintings, leaving this joy in the soul of those who observe them. Ada’s pieces of work have two views: the first one is the one that fills our eyes with the impressive and balanced color of the landscapes causing an immediate attraction. The second one is each and every one of the details in the painting, forming a colorful mosaic. Here we observe a chicken, there a farmer, further away a small house, close to the frame a fisherman and a church, all of which are some of Ada’s delicate and very characteristic figures. She is a fairy without the “f” using her brush as a magic wand yet fulfilling her dreams about small happy villages, full of chitchat and tradition which is perceived in each one of her characters.

And it was during her last exhibition, in her gallery in Paso Ancho where this simple and brilliant creator showed us again why nowadays those piece of work that are her responsibility are found adorning hundreds of homes in Mexico as well as abroad.

In her last adventure of colors, the painter added her experience on the small streets of San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato, a place of artists par excellence, where she stayed for a one month visit.

As a result she produced paintings that conjugate her known subjects with new ones full of symbolism. "I have always liked altarpieces and votive offerings. During my visit to Talpa I saw some that were so pretty and full of emotions that I began to work with that technique" says Ada while she points out a painting at her side called "the Guadalupana". It is a most beautiful representation of the Virgin of Guadalupe accompanied by her perfectly detailed miracles; "I painted the first one of these pictures and I liked it so much that I thought I would keep it but then a well-known artist of the Mexican television came along and it was so taken by it that he bought it. Later I painted other but different pictures and they are also well liked.” This does not come as a surprise since these paintings combine color and forms with Mexican faith.

At present Ada Colorina is the official painter of the International Fishing Tournament whose organizers use the creations of this painter as their logo. In addition just recently she has contributed with a mural in the Benito Juarez School. Now here it is the children who can get to know and enjoy her work, which by the way should never be the privilege of a few but should be enjoyed by all those who love color and joy.

The Study Gallery of Ada Colorina is located on Felipe Angeles Street # 242 in the suburb of Paso Ancho. The phone is 222 1994, info@adacolorina.com. Her works can also be appreciated at the Gallery des Artistes, downtown Puerto Vallarta.
