Exhibit of the library’s painting workshops
The library’s workshops have been operating for a year.Participating students are ready to display their first oil paintings and show us what they have learned under the tutorship of Héctor Ponce and Ricardo Tovar. This exhibit’s inauguration will take place on Thursday, April 17 at the Bernice Starr room.
“Tribulaciones del migrante” (Migrant’s Tribulations) by Francisco San Miguel. Exhibit Inauguration. Francisco San Miguel has been recognized with a scholarship given to a very select few Jalisco artists.
The final fruit from his scholarship can be appreciated in its full magnitude at the library starting Friday, April 18 at 8pm in an event garnished by Melissa Castillo’s Contemporary DanceWorkshop.
International Book Day, Reading marathon.
April 23 is International Book Day and in order to celebrate it the library is organizing a marathon of spoken reading. The author to be read out will be Juan José Arreola as this year we will celebrate what would be his 90th birthday.
His work “La Feria” (The Fair) will be read out from 9am to 9pm by all those who wish to participate, just signing on to the list will let them read Arreola out loud for 15 minutes.
The library’s staff will also perform a representation of two stories from the same book. Wednesday, April 23rd from 9am to 9pm.
“Flora and Fauna” Exposition 
Daría González exhibits ten of her latest sculptural creations based on various techniques, such as concrete, styrofoam, tree-trunks and metal structures.
This collection was inspired by textures, volumes, colors and traces found in animals, insects, plants and skins of fruits.
Daría is a Vallartense artist who studied at the Art School of the University of Guadalajara.
On the international level her works have been exhibited in Canada; they have also been exhibited in several Mexican states. The exhibit opens on Friday, April 25th at 7:30pm

- Thursday: Children’s Reading club, 5 pm. 7 to 12 year-old kids.
- Friday: Los Mangos Movie Club, Cycle: Crazy March, Video room, 7 pm
- Saturday: Los Mangos Movie Club, Cycle: Crazy March, Video room, 4 pm
- Saturday: Tale Time, Inner Patio, 12:30 pm. 5 to 12 year-old kids.
New Workshops
- Theater workshop. Children, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 to 6 pm.
Youngsters, Saturdays, 11am to 1pm. Monthly cooperation $350.00 pesos. Free registry up until workshop beginning on April 15. After that, 200 pesos per year.
- Physical conditioning for seniors. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 am. Free registry up until workshop beginning on April 15. After that, $250.00 pesos. Monthly cooperation $380.00 pesos.
