Promoting Young Vallarta Talent
With the objective of creating spaces for the various methods of expression of the young,
Puerto Vallarta’s City Hall, through the Instituto Vallartense de la Juventud (Vallarta’s Youth Institute) and in coordination with the Instituto Jalisciense (Jalisco Institute), held the State’s Singing Contest 2008 with the theme “Because music and voice are the best ways of expression”.
Luis Conrado Arias Rivera, coordinator on the part of the City Hall, was the one charged with inaugurating and closing this event with the support of the City Mayor, who ratified the present administration’s commitment to promote actions in the benefit of the young community.
Surrounded by the scenery of our open air “Aquiles Serdán” theater, 18 young participants showed their talent in the “Ranchero” and “pop” genders, with the goal of representing our port in the forthcoming State competition which will take place in Guadalajara on May 2nd against the winners of other municipalities.
Judges Paulo Alberto Parada Romo, Iván Arreola Santiago, Monserrath Mercado, Omar Viazcán and Tina Huang, who have a vast experience in the artistic media, evaluated the voice, tuning, theme compatibility, costume and stage attitude of participants as decisive elements to determine the winners who will participate in Guadalajara.
This brought out Noelia Palomares Vázquez as winner in the ranchero gender, as well as Miguel del Olmo Contreras and Perla Marina Murúa Hernández in the pop category, to represent Puerto Vallarta in the state edition. They will be recording the participating song along with the other winners from the whole state.
