ART & CULTURE

Vallarta enjoyed two great shows

Cachi PerezIt was not a mime, nor a clown, nor an actor; it was the Italian Marco Carolei, one of the best performers of this new technique called “Clown” (a mix of the former three), who brought about great laughter from the audience who attended his show at the “Los Arcos” open air theater at the end of the “Malecón” (boardwalk by the water).

Marco Carolei, who possesses the gift of improvisation, took advantage of the least movement from the audience to joke with them and integrate them into his show. From among the audience, a girl came out to ride with him on an imaginary vehicle, it all peaked in a wedding and, with the same participants he even formed a jazz band that brought about a thundering laughter from the audience.

It is worth mentioning that the Italian performer has presented his shows in various stages throughout the world. Here the show extended to almost forty minutes due to the warm greeting of the vallartenses. At the end of the presentation the artist thanked the audience for their applause promising to return to our paradisiacal Puerto Vallarta.

Jazz without borders

In closing the third week of the Fiestas de Mayo 08 (May Festivals ’08), The avant-garde of the German neo–jazz movement was present with Carsten Daerr Trio, in the Jalisco ballroom of the Krystal hotel where the lovers of this musical genre were delighted by the outstanding and virtuous performances of Carsten Daerr at the piano, Oliver Potratz in the upright bass and the energy of Eric Schaefer on the percussions.

Their music has been catalogued by the Berlin press as “audacious, with an adventurous spirit” and so demonstrated Daerr himself, playing in the same melody a classical piano and a synthesizer, stripping jazz from some worn models dragged through the years- This group combines the exploration of experimental music with the enthusiastic and vigorous performance and piano improvisations that left a very pleasant impression.

Puerto Vallarta Receives a Musical Gift

Cachi Perez Puerto Vallarta received one of the best artistic and musical gifts of all times with the performance of the prestigious Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra who, on the night of May 22nd brought about a standing ovation by an audience of over 800 persons as part of the  Fiestas de Mayo 2008 (May Festivals 2008).

This pleasant soirée was attended by city mayor Javier Bravo Carbajal and the president of DIF (Family Integral Development) System, Aleyda Isabel Bravo Carbajal, accompanied by delegates, City Hall staff and the general public, who for an hour-and-a-half delighted in the presence of this international orchestra which, under director Michael Hofstetter’s baton, offered a top  level concert with works from Mozart, Mendelssohn and Schubert.

Cachi Perez Every interpretation was well received by the public who showed themselves very well pleased with the performance made possible thanks to the coordination of the  11º Festival Cultural de Mayo de Guadalajara (11º Guadalajara May Cultural Festival), directed by Professor Sergio Alejandro Matus. It all left a most pleasant savor in all of us.

At the end of the concert, the director of this prestigious orchestra thanked the city for its invitation with which they close their tour of our country after performing at the Sala Nezahualcóyotl of the  Centro Cultural Universitario de la UNAM (Nezahualcóyotl Concert House of the Mexican National Autonomous University’s  Cultural University Center) and at the  Teatro Degollado theater of Guadalajara.

Michael Hofstetter, also allowed himself some time to spend it with the young Orquesta Juvenil del Centro Cultural Cuale (Cuale Cultural Center Junior Orchestra), with whom he shared some of his experiences. Email to a friend.
