Russian Ballet in Puerto VallartaPuerto Vallarta, Mexico It was announced today that the celebrated Russian State Ballet of Siberia will be performing for one night only, Thursday, May 13th, 8:30 pm, in Vallarta’s beautiful new performing arts venue Teatro Vallarta.  Tickets are $400 Pesos to $600 Pesos (VIP seating) and are available at the theatre’s box office Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm.  Teatro Vallarta is located in El Centro at Uruguay 184, just south of LEY’S grocery store on the main street as you enter downtown.

The Russian State Ballet of Siberia is a classical ballet company based at the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The company was founded in 1978 by graduates of the choreographic schools of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg.  After touring Europe and the UK for the past 3 years, Vallarta is lucky to have been added to their touring schedule this season.

Russian Ballet in Puerto VallartaDuring their one night performance at Teatro Vallarta, The Russian State Ballet will be performing eight various pieces from their classic repertoire including Don Quixote and Tchaikovsky’s “Cascanueces” with the complete Carmina Burana.  Written in the thirteenth century and discovered in the nineteenth century in a Bavarian Benedictine Monastery, Carmina Burana, set to Carl Orff's popular cantata, takes its inspiration from a group of sacred and secular medieval poems celebrating the struggle of men and women against fate. The ballet depicts the story of 13th-century minstrels who abandon their beliefs in favor of life's pleasures. The action takes place in the fertile imagination of a young monk, who instead of writing "Ave Maria" in the margins of his prayer book, finds himself writing "Hail Venus." The classical composition is given a modern interpretation through sensual choreography, colorful costumes and minimalist set decoration.

Russian Ballet in Puerto Vallarta For years, locals have been yearning for a state-of-the-art performance space that could handle world-class touring productions.  With the announcement of The Russian State Ballet, expats, local nationals and visitors alike can now enjoy top productions without having to travel to Guadalajara or Mexico City.  Come support the arts in Banderas Bay and purchase your tickets today to The Russian State Ballet.  While you are there, make sure to purchase tickets to Fandango; Teatro Vallarta’s vivid celebration of Mexican culture featuring 15 live musicians and 30 dancers.
