VALLARTA GOURMET

My Opinion

by Nacho Cadena
January 25, 2003.

I have often been asked for my opinion on the various cuisine types of the world, which are the best… That is a difficult question to answer, but for my taste, I would classify the best cuisines as follows: French cuisine would come first, followed by Mexican cuisine (the real one) and China's would rank third.

French cuisine is famous for its exquisite taste and spectacular sauces. Mexican cooking for the wide variety of its dishes, its originality and the use of surprising elements such as the great range of chilies, herbs and flavorings. Chinese cooking is ancient and exotic, with defined flavors and a great variety of sauces.

It is hard not to mention Italian cooking also, the best known and most popular in the world, or Japanese, which is gaining more and more adepts each day, especially when it comes to sushi, or the new trends such as Thai cuisine…

Mediterranean cuisine does not belong to any country in particular, even though it is a world-renowned category nowadays.

In the end, food is a question of taste. Which one is your favorite?
