of Art on the Boardwalk (malecon)

 With the objective to promote
new artistic values and to consolidate known ones,
the Department of Culture of the Honorable City Council
of Puerto Vallarta, is extending an attentive invitation
to all professional and amateur painters to participate
in "The expression
of Saturdays of Art" consisting of a grand collective
exposition of pictorial art, which will be held every
Saturday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on the main boardwalk
(malecon) in the center of town. This event will be
inaugurated by the city*s mayor, Lic. Gustavo González
Villaseñor.
A huge number of artists are
expected to participate, so that it might be possible
to start at the dolphin fountain up to the Hotel
Rosita. I imagine that it will be a genuine fiesta
(celebration) of the visual arts; I believe that
we will see works with landscapes, still life of
the ocean, portraits to currents of vanguard that
at present manifest themselves in our artistic environment.
This opening is a huge achievement demonstrating
the great availability of our new mayor Gustavo González
to support the promotion of Puerto Vallarta as an artistic
and cultural destination, leaving behind the concept
of a center of only bars and discos. We also acknowledge
the big help being carried out by the director of culture,
Mr. Manuel Santana and the assistant director, Mr.
Arturo Ortega.
The requirements for participation in this art event
are: to show photos of your pieces of work or to show
the original paintings at the offices of the department
of culture, where a committee will evaluate the quality
of the works of art.
The participating artists will bring their own easels
where they will exhibit their works. Anybody interested

del Arte en el Malecón

El Departamento de Cultura
de H. Ayuntamiento de Puerto Vallarta, con el objetivo
de promover los nuevos valores artísticos y de consolidar
los ya conocidos, está haciendo una atenta
invitación a todos los pintores profesionales
y aficionados para que participen en "La Expresión
de los Sábados del Arte" el cual consiste
en una gran exposición colectiva de arte pictórico
que se llevará a cabo todos los Sábados
de 10:00 a.m. a 9:00 p.m. en el malecón principal
del centro de la ciudad, este evento será inaugurado
por el alcalde de la ciudad Lic. Gustavo González
Villaseñor.
Se espera que participen
un gran número de
artistas, para que de ser posible inicie desde la
fuente de los delfines hasta el Hotel Rosita, me
imagino que será una autentica fiesta de las
artes visuales, en donde se mostrarán todas
las tendencias pictóricas de los artistas
locales, creo que veremos desde paisajes, bodegones
marinas, retratos, hasta las corrientes de vanguardia
que actualmente se manifiestan en nuestra atmósfera
artística. Esta apertura es un gran logro que
patentiza la gran disponibilidad del nuevo alcalde
Gustavo González, de apoyar la promoción
de Puerto Vallarta como un destino de arte y cultura,
dejando atrás el concepto de centro de solo
bares y discotecas. Reconocemos también el
gran apoyo que está realizando el director
de cultura el señor Manuel Santana y el subdirector
el señor Arturo Ortega.
Los requisitos para participar
en este evento de arte son: mostrar fotografías de su obra o
mostrar los originales de la misma en las oficinas
del departamento de cultura, en donde un comité evaluará la
calidad de las obras de arte.
Los artistas participantes
llevarán sus propios
caballetes en donde exhibirán sus trabajos.
