Juan Carlos Alcantara Ruiz - Sommelier's Cellar
I am a Sommelier, which means I have one of the most pleasurable jobs in the world; knowing and understanding wines. This passion for wine was born some years ago, I was studying a master’s degree on Hotels Administration at the Intercontinental University in Mexico City. Some wine courses awakened my interest on the subject. In order to earn my master’s degree I did an essay on this theme, titled “El maridaje entre vinos mexicanos y gastronomía mexicana” (The “maridaje” or pairing of Mexican wines and Mexican gastronomy). Fresh out of college, I started working for an import-export and wine distribution company. At that time I took courses on wines, spirits and chesses, given by the Mexican Association of Sommeliers. I presently work as manager and sommelier at Viparmex’s office in Puerto Vallarta and I remain looking forward to sharing a friendly chat over wines with you!
