it is usual since forty seven years ago, once again
we will celebrate in beautiful Puerto Vallarta, the
forty eighth International Sail-Fish Fishing Tournament.
Natural beauty, tradition, honor
and emotion are the ingredients that frame this event
that year after year gathers the most prestigious fishermen
of the world. This year the Puerto Vallarta Fishing
Club (Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta A.C.) headed
by its president Mr. Alberto Sanchez Cardenas, is committed
to make this tournament a great event worthy of all
and each of its participants, and most of all, for the
whole Vallarta’s community, to whom the tournament
belongs to.
If we go back in history, Vallarta
was founded and developed thanks to its fishermen. As
a matter of fact, for many years this port was identified
as a “fishing village”, where even, as the
story goes, shark fishing was allowed to produce its
liver oil that was sent to the American troops during
World War II. This generated considerable income for
the community. Besides honoring and recognizing the
fishermen, the International Sail-Fish Fishing Tournament
has become an extra attraction for Puerto Vallarta’s
national and foreign visitors.
Bandera’s Bay, which protects
Puerto Vallarta, has always been abundant for sport
fishing and once again the contestants will be able
to prove it.
Our acknowledgement to all the fishermen
of “the friendliest city of the world”,
as well as to the Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta,
A.C. for their commitment, effort and endeavor to make
this annual tournament, a world class event that helps
promote our destination.
 The
International Sail-Fish Fishing Tournament will take
place on November 20, 21 and 22nd and its an excellent
reason to visit the paradise in Mexico, where it is
said that “God spent the seventh day resting after
creation”… of course that paradise is Puerto
Vallarta!
