Welcome
back readers, the BLUE WATER, BLACK MARLIN & GIANT
YELLOWFIN TUNA! For the past month, it's been 3 days
green water & 1 day blue. Strange currents have
had us all guessing how the conditions are going to
be day to day and it's been hit and miss at best. But,
now the tides have turned and blue water has returned.
It's been blue at both the Bank and Corbetania for a
good week and it looks like it's here to stay. July
and August in Puerto Vallarta is usually wide open,
Black Marlin and Giant Yellowfin but due to the El Nino
conditions, we have had weird currents messing things
up. The good news is that it's over and the monsters
are back.
Tonya Too had a great day Monday
releasing 2 Black Marlin and boating 6 Tuna between
40 and 80 pounds, one Wahoo 65 pounds, they had a Giant
Yellowfin on for 1:45 minutes before it spit the hook,
Way to go Horacio Hernandez and family, local sales
professional & financial consultant, for such a
productive day. Horacio, his first time fishing with
Master Baiter's caught and mounted a 635lb Black Marlin.
I'm not sure if he's good or lucky, but he can fish
with me in a tournament any time. We can always use
more skill and all the luck we can get.
Tonya Too also had a great day Wednesday
picking up 3 Sails (all released) by El Morro, they
then headed outside after spotting a school of dolphin
and hammered the Tuna, double, triple and quadruple
hook-ups until the father and three sons of the Williams
Family "cried uncle" and couldn't land one
more of the 50 lb. School Yellowfins. They went home
with 70 pounds of prime filets and I ate some of their
catch again last night, thanks again.
El Amo, a 32 Hatteras had a very
good week also, despite the fact that the owner - Trini
went out as Captain. They fished mainly the dolphin
schools filling their boat with Tuna everyday they went
out. It makes me wonder how much better they could have
and would have done if he would just have stayed on
the docks waiting for the boat to come home. I guess
if your in the middle of the ocean and you throw a rock
off the boat, it's hard to miss the water. "Even
a blind squirrel finds a nut, once in a while"
if you get my drift. Just kidding, Trini - my friend
is an excellent Captain and a good sport!
Not
a lot else to report about outside the bay due to the
water conditions, most boats have chosen to stay inside
of the bay and catch Sailfish, trolling dead Bally Hoo
has produced an incredible amount of Sailfish hook-ups
this week. When you find a school of Sailfish or hook
one up drop back some live Google Eyes and chances are
you will pick up another. In close lots of Rooster fish,
slow trolling Google Eyes or medium to large Rapalas
will ensure hook-ups on 10 to 25 pound Roosters. They
can also be casted to from the surf or shore. Things
are only going to get better and better now that the
blue water has returned. The end of August and September
should be wide open! For the first time in Puerto Vallarta,
BALLY HOO are available at Master Baiter's Sportfishing
& Tackle, Marina Vallarta location.
If you would like to rent a charter
boat and know exactly what you are getting then stop
into either MASTER BAITER'S SPORTFISHING & TACKLE
locations: Downtown on Morelos Street #164 tel/22-27239
or Marina Vallarta, when facing the water 3 doors to
your right of the lighthouse tel/20-90498. You will
receive an accurate description and the right boat,
crew and equipment for what you want to catch. You can
freeze, smoke or mount (stuff) your catch to take home
or weigh it I.G.F.A. style. Their company owned boats
Tonya Too and including the "High Maintenance"
who is the winner of the WORLD CHAMPION TEAM award 2
years in a row! offer you a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE, that
you CATCH a game fish, that's how confident they are.
If you are just 1 or two people then ask about sharing
a boat. As our famous T-shirts say "We won't jerk
you around"
