FISHING REPORT
Well Vallarta did it again, the annual Sailfish Tournament held by the Club de
Pesca this past weekend was a big success. This 47th year old tournament, was
most definitely a fun event for all from the young to the "young at heart",
63 boats competed in this event to see who will drive home a winner or winners.
The biggest winner of this event was one of the smallest participants, 11 year
old angler extraordinaire Carlos Sanchez Roman of Irapuato, Guanajuato Mexico.
The first day of the tournament started strong for this tough guy, the first fish
of the day, a 42 Kg 700 gram Sailfish. A lot of Sails were caught, along with
Mahi-Mahi with only a few making it to the weigh station. I asked the winning
Crew where the fishing was happening and he said with a big smile on his face,
they are all over, it's wide open. Outside of the bay, inside of the bay, north,
south and of coarse, Corbetania & El Banco. Was fishing really that good or
was he keeping the hot spot secret? Mighty Carlos this 11 year old die hard took
numerous awards, 1st & 3rd place Sailfish, 1st place Dorado and of coarse,
Top Kid! I guess no one else on the boat even had a chance to fish! Congratulations
to Todd Jackson & Crew who fished aboard the Tonya Too (a charter boat at
Master Baiter's Sportfishing & Tackle) who caught & released 12 Sailfish
during the tournament! Way to go Todd! Thank you to John
