Hey now, back again with fishy news
from Puerto Vallarta!
Blue, blue seas and skies continue
to be the forecast well into next week so, it’s
the perfect time to get out onto the ocean and do some
serious fishing.
In close, there are big rooster fish galore. You can
find them all along the sandy beaches in and out of
the bay, use surface poppers when casting from the beach
or rangers. If you have a long firm surf rod try yozur,
hydro magnums. While trolling hydro mags work awesomely
along with slow trolled live goggle eyes. Rooster fish
are frustrating when fished with live bait, they will
come up from behind and short bite the goggle eyes,
rip off some line and when you try to set the hook,
they are gone.
Keep your bait out, they will come
back and after a few times of cat and mouse you will
end with a hook-up. Out toward the PV Resorts, Sierra
Mackerel are thick up close to shore, casting anything
that shines will produce strike after strike of this
good fishing great-rating game fish. Light equipment
will insure loads of fun with Sierras, they are also
called sea trout in some areas and should be handled
with respect while unhooking, they do have very sharp
teeth and will put a fair size gash in your hand of
you are not careful!
That brings us to the Wahoo – another toothy fish
that has broken wide open at both, Corbetaña
and the Bank- has returned. “High Maintenance”
along with Capitan Steve and mate Skinney nailed 9 big
Wahoo on Tuesday ranging from 45 to 90 lbs. Marauders,
Yozuri hydro magnums and joet head, or hey, head lures,
will produce immediate hook-ups at either destinations.
If Wahoo is a fish you have been
wanting to add to your list of “have done’s”,
it’s time to get out now ‘cause it’s
wide open. Wahoo, school-size tuna 30 to 40 lbs., can
be found all around Corbetaña heading out to
El Banco. Small jet heads or pakulla lures have been
working great, if you want to maximise your chances
of Wahoo and Tuna, put two Yozuri hydromags or braid
marauders in close off the flat lines along with tuna
lures off the long and short rigger positions.
A reminder - if you get sea sick, or if you don’t
know whether you might get sick or not, better safe
than sorry, take a Dramamine or other sea sickness pill
the night prior to your trip, then another half in the
morning prior to leaving. That way you will sleep off
the drowsy effect and be good to go for nailing the
Wahoo, Tuna and Dorado that are going off now here in
Puerto Vallarta, fishing is great so, get out now!!!!
