FISHING REPORT

#73 Weekly Fishing Report

by John Gabruk
June 8, 2003.

Things are heating up here in Puerto Vallarta! Captain Steve Torres went to The Bank (El Banco) aboard the newest addition to the Master Baiter’s fleet of company-owned boats, a 42-ft. Bertram Express we call the “Notorious”.

On the first trip out, Captain Steve along with a guy from Miami named Brad landed the first Blue Marlin of the year: a 450-lb.fish taken on a live Skipjack! When we asked Brad what he thought about the fish and the trip, he said, “It’s the special attention given above and beyond, along with Captain Steve.” That got Brad to come to us in the first place. And he’s glad he did! “Notorious”, with it’s open cockpit is now available for charter. And in keeping with Master Baiter’s high standards, “Notorious” is among the fastest boats in Puerto Vallarta!

School-size Tuna are all over the place at Corbetañia. Many people have been coming in with anywhere from 10 to 30 Yellow Fins. Christopher Rager, the CEO of a sporting goods manufacturer chose to take a day off his Honeymoon and do some fishing. When he came back in, he had caught so many Yellow Fins that his arms were cramping up. When I asked Christopher how his day went, he told me that “there were several times during the trip that he would have three hook-ups at a time!” He’d finish landing one, just to move on to the next hook-up. We should all have those kinds of “problems”. Just another day in paradise!

The numbers of Sailfish are on the rise as well as Grande Wahoo in the 80-lb. range, and many Mounting Sized Dorado! It’s promising to be another “hot summer”. Be sure to make your reservations early to insure you’ll have the fishing experience of a lifetime!

Remember ladies, Master Baiter’s is an equal opportunity fishing enterprise, so if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to go after the fishing fantasy of a lifetime, step up and be counted. Just like my new friend Jenny from Vancouver, B.C. She plans on coming back to P.V. soon with some friends and it won’t be long before she’s caught up in a blue water frenzy! Hurry back Jenny!

Here in Grande (Big) Pescado (Fish) Country, it’s considered bad luck to bring bananas along on fishing trips. It’s funny, I’ve been out with clients before and didn’t know they had bananas on board …and we couldn’t get any strikes. When the bananas were discovered, we got rid of them and the fun started. Coincidence, maybe, maybe not. But now that you know, you may want to leave them behind on your next fishing trip!

If you would like to rent a charter boat and know exactly what you are getting, then stop into MASTER BAITER’S SPORTFISHING & TACKLE in Marina Vallarta, when facing the water 3 doors to your right of the lighthouse. Our phone numbers are (322) 209-0498/9 or 044 (322) 294-0519 by cell. You will receive an accurate description and the right boat, crew and equipment for what you want to catch. And we can freeze your catch for you to take home. The company-owned boats (including the “Tonya Too” and the “High Maintenance” who is the winner of the WORLD CHAMPION TEAM award 2 years in a row!) offer you a money back guarantee, that you catch a gamefish, that’s how confident they are! If you are just 1 or two people, then ask about sharing a boat. As our famous T-shirts say, “We won’t jerk you around!”

Stop by Master Baiter’s Sportfishing & Tackle located 3 doors from the lighthouse in MARINA VALLARTA (when facing the water). We will direct you to the right fishing boat, crew, grounds & equipment for what you want to catch and our company-owned boats have a GUARANTEED CATCH.
