Great Artists From Sayulita

 Sayulita is not only a town of fishermen and surfers, but also a home for
great artists and painters such as Edgar Rodriguez.
Edgar was born in San Francisco and grew up in Sayulita.
Since the age of thirteen Edgar´s talent evolved under the arm of
his grandfather and mother whom are also painters. As a child he painted
horses, revolutionary scenses, the ocean and boats using acrilic and watercolors.
His talent has since transformed to surreal and figurative. Edgar talks
enthusiastically about his favorite painters; Pouloc and William de Kooning
which have greatly influenced his stlye. He is also a great admirer of
Hispanic painters such as Diego Rivera, Goya and Orozco. Edgar describes
his work as modern and abstract. He is always looking for new textures
using different materials such as oils, wax and varnishes. His search for
contrasting colors along with his abstract style are seen in his works.
At the age of 18 he had his first exposition at El Bendito
Gallery in Puerto Vallarta with Carmina Dias. His work was greatly accepted
and critics spoke well of his work.

Vallarta and at Villa Amor, Sayulita Properties and Librería Sayulita
in Sayulita. You can also visit these places during the Open Art Studio every

Grandes Artistas de Sayulita

 Sayulita no es solo un pueblito de pescadores y
surfos, también alberga
grandes artistas como es el caso de Edgar Rodríguez, pintor oriundo
de San Pancho pero que creció en Sayulita.
Desde los trece años, Edgar ha desarrollado su talento bajo la tutela
de su abuelo y su madre, pintores también. De niño pintaba
en acrílico y acuarela; charros, caballos, escenas revolucionarias,
el mar y las barcas, ya desde entonces con un estilo surrealista y figurativo.
Con gran entusiasmo, Edgar habla de sus pintores favoritos: Pouloc y William
De Kooning por los cuales su obra está Fuertemente influenciada. También
es gran admirador de la obra de pintores hispanos como Diego Rivera, Goya
y Orozco.
Edgar describe su obra como modernista, abstracta
siempre buscando nuevas texturas con el uso de diferentes materiales como
son el Óleo, las
ceras y barnices. La búsqueda de los colores contratantes, unidos
a el estilo abstracto, son parte ya de la obra de este gran pintor.
A los 18 años realizó su primera exposición en Puerto
Vallarta en la Galería El Bendito con Carmina Días. Teniendo
gran aceptación y criticas favorables de su trabajo.
Actualmente su obra se puede admirar en Galería Uno, Galería
Olinalá en Puerto Vallarta. En Sayulita, en Villa Amor, Sayulita Properties
y Librería Sayulita próximamente además de su Open Art
Studio los Miércoles de 12:00 a 6:00 p.m.
