La Cruz de Huanacaxtle - People and Places from this side of the Bay
By SS - February 2005
Latcho and Andrea, 8 years of bringing us together with their gypsy rhythm.
First part
I clearly remember the first time I saw The Blond Gypsies (http://www.latchoandrea.com), as many of the best things that had happened in my life, it was by chance.

It was during the Christmas Holiday of the year 1997. I was a tourist staying at my brother's place. At the time his house was not the successful Bed and Breakfast Villa Bella.
Back then, as of entertainment, the town of La Cruz did not have much, as of restaurants it had the landmark of Columba, and The Cruise Quarters and Dos Felipe's for the few gringos scattered in the modest fishing town.
It was a Sunday evening, we were kicking back by the pool and as we were getting hungry he suggested going down into town and check out the newest and only coffee shop, El Café del Pulpo.
As we walked in we saw a very handsome couple of "gueros" playing flamenco guitars and dressed in an extravagant manner (I am almost sure Latcho was wearing his famous red shoes).
We were very impressed as we sat and ordered ceviche tostadas, the tostadas went flat in the table since we did not eat, and neither speak during the whole performance.
As tough as my brother is, I was surprised when I saw tears in his eyes as he remained very quiet for the whole concert, at that moment Andrea remained me of the Tarot card of The Strength, a sweet lady grabbing a Lion by the mouth.
Next time I saw them was a couple of years later at Mark's Grill, back when it was a modest pizza place. And another couple of years later in Papasitos in La Cruz, I believe now it is called Black Forest . The feeling I get when I see them remained the same, and has stayed the same despite the years.
Attending to their performances is a nurturing experience; it brings joy to the senses and peace to the spirit.
By looking at them I feel joy, I can breathe their own, their happiness and pleasure and most of all the Love for their trade, the love to be alive. It can't be disguised, as it is there and it is contagious.
By listening to them I feel inspired, a warmth wave of well-being envelopes me, I feel at my best, I feel I can and should do something pleasant, I feel the need to express myself, Physically their music rebounds in my stomach awakening my creative self.
The funny thing is that it is a collective experience, at their concerts I like to pay attention to the hush hush of the audience between their songs, they feel the same as I, despite the nationality, gender, age or color, the gypsy blonds bring us together, create the environment for a communion of joy, of happiness, of fraternity.
They remind us of what is truly important, that the music is made of our essence: the true energy of life.
To be continued...
