FROM THE NORTH SHORE

San Pancho News
By: Elvia & Geno Lamphiear - November 2005

It is finally here!! After creating soooo much expectations in the area, next Thursday evening will be the opening of the big fancy MarPlata restaurant!! Marplata will be run by the same creative girl who has successfully been running Café del Mar for the past three years. Café del Mar has been rated by many as THE best restaurant in the area.

Amandine says Marplata is not a branch of Café del Mar and is not an extension in anyway. Marplata is an Argentinean Bar & Grill which will serve European traditional foods with contemporary influences where the best Argentinian meat cuts will be served. Timeless cuisine surrounded by the ambience of this "European Traveling Time-Ship" that somehow ended up in the tropics, (or should we say the Costa Azul area) bringing about the encounter of these two different worlds. Please see attached photo of the nearly complete Marplata.

Marplata will be open next Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. only for dinner and work its way into lunch later on. CONGRATULATIONS AMANDINE - and good luck!!

Another restaurant will be open soon as well!! Marias Restaurant is located on the main street of San Pancho just a few steps from the beach. Local girl Ines Garcia Palomera is opening a deli place serving items such as sushi, pastas, salads, sandwiches, coffees and desserts. Ines has worked in the restaurant business for a many years in such places as Le Bistro in Puerto Vallarta and the Four Seasons Hotel in Punta de Mita (to mention a couple). We even understand that a certain musician may be making performance appearances from time to time at Marias Restaurant. Best of luck to you Ines! You have our support!!

Everyone is busy getting ready for the next high season. We are just about at the end of our rainy season now. Skies are blue but we still have high humidity with wide temperature ranges and even a sprinkle of rain here & there. We all look forward to our friends - and new friends - arriving here in San Pancho!

Building keeps going on, the real estate business is very active - and along with that there is a feeling of prosperity that spreads in all levels of the community (which is good for everyone).

Not even a month ago, the new elected president of the county, Dr. Jaime Cuevas, has taken over. His home is in Valle the Banderas, the oldest town in the county - a one hour drive from San Pancho. Expectations are that an educated and sensitive person such as he, who is well known by everyone and has been one of the best doctors in the area, will provide good healthy leadership for our fast growing county & challenging future. We trust and support you Dr. Jaime Cuevas!

Until next time!
