For the fifth year in a row, San Pancho celebrated its’ own music festival the last weekend of February.
What a treat to have soooo much talent all at once. This year, for the first time, Chas Eller (one of the best keyboard players in the world) played here along with Geno Lamphiear on bass, Carl Cook on electric guitar & David of Sayulilta on vocals and classical guitar. The audience was spellbound! Geno and Carl live in the San Pancho area and Chas will be moving down here (along with his beautiful wife, Ava) from Vermont in the near future.
Chas plans on opening a professional recording studio right here in beautiful San Pancho!! (Check out: www.CharlesEllerStudios.com ) The local musicians are thrilled with the idea – and they just can’t wait!!
This last month the Community Center Entre Amigos held the first Huichol Festival from February the 16th to the 19th. This Indian Group is one of the most pure Indian groups in all of Mexico. They performed some traditional dances and had a great display of all their beautiful art pieces. Do you feel that things are not going your way? Come and have a cleansing by the local Chamam! .Thank you Nicole Swedlow from the Community Center and making this event happen!!
For those who love to stay connected at all times we have good news! San Pancho now has Cell Phone Service!! The office s located in La Peñita de Jaltemba. Just a couple of miles north of the San Pancho entrance you can see the huge tower to the east.
As you may remember from our last article, San Pancho is  on the go to have a library!! The main opportunity that we have faced in the past has been finding a location. This week a group of people lead by Nicole Swedlow, Elvia Garcia, Gustavo Cardenas, Joaquina and the school principal Raymundo Garcia are taking a trip to Tepic, Nayarit to request the Public Education Board to donate a small piece of property from the Elementary school right on the corner of Avenida del Tercer Mundo and Calle Africa. The teachers support this Project greatly, and everything seems like this might be the place – it looks like a “GO” - but we still following through with the right steps. We will keep you posted!!
