San Pancho News
By: Elvia & Geno Lamphiear – May 2006
Hola amigos!!

La Semana Santa is over, most of the tourists are gone and we are just getting out of another successful busy season. We can feel the weather slowly changing. It is now about 81 degrees F with the ocean a warm 75 degrees F. The rainy season is approaching. We have heard that the Guadalajara area is already getting rain so hopefully it will be moving this way soon! When the first rains do hit, the selva explodes in green and smells so sweet! We are all looking forward to some nice rains!
San Pancho New Boutique and Beauty Shop
About a month ago, a new business opened its’ doors for the first time on the main street of San Pancho. LUMA offers clothes & accessories for sale and is also a beauty shop. The concept is to sell their fashion quality clothes at affordable prices and also to offer to everyone in town a place where they can relax and become even more beautiful while being pampered. Martha is from Puerto Vallarta and Luis Ruiz is from San Pancho. They are partners in this adventure. Martha has owned Rodrigos (a well known beauty shop in Puerto Vallarta) for the past 20 years and has now decided to treat us to her experience here in San Pancho. Javier Hugo performs his art here… he is one of the best hair stylists in the area. Javier will treat you like ―and make you look like― a movie star!
We want to share with you...
Our first pueblo easter egg hunting celebration here in San Pancho, and we also want to say thank you to all the people who donated items to Entre Amigos like the egg coloring kits, etc...
ENTRE AMIGOS is a community center operated by Nicole Swedloe who wants to bring new projects to San Pancho. This spring we decided to treat the kids to a new (to them) experience… Easter Egg Hunting. We first started by asking the mothers in San Pancho to bring hard boiled eggs. We wound up with 534 hard boiled eggs (after first removing all the badly cracked ones). Saturday was spent having the children color the Easter Eggs. It was so much fun to watch the kids color the eggs and try to make them beautiful in hopes that they would be a winner in the contest of one the most beautiful eggs. On Sunday morning, the Easter Bunny, with the help of his helpers Geno Lamphiear, Frank Dunbar and Dave (a friendly passing visitor), very carefully hid all the eggs at the Palapas Las Iguanas Gardens. Along with the hidden Easter Eggs there were also chocolates, plastic eggs with prizes and all kinds of goodies like candy, toys, etc…
After the Easter Eggs were safely hidden, we all gathered at the gate of the Palapas Las Iguanas Gardens and allowed the younger kids to go in first and then the older kids a few minutes later. The adults had to be very careful to not get run over by the stampede of kids on their search for the Easter Eggs & other treasures. There were about 50 kids from San Pancho (and a few pleasantly surprised visitors as well). Everyone had so much fun!! We will definitely invite the Easter Bunny to San Pancho again next year!!!
Until next time,
