San Pancho - June 2006
By: Elvia & Geno Lamphiear – June 2006
Dear Friends,
San Pancho now-a-days has garbage collection service everyday from Monday to Saturday – with our very own San Pancho garbage truck!! It used to be only three times a week (which is GREAT anywhere…) – now it is six times a week!!! This will be a great push in our efforts to keep San Pancho litter free!
The Plaza del Sol has been remodeled and even though it took a while, it is now finally coming to completion. Last week several truck loads of dirt came in to start the gardens. They also worked on the basketball courts and the play ground area for the children. This is all government funded projects.
Nancy Katsel had a vision of a wonderful memorial for our friend, Dar Peters, who passed away last October. In one of the planters in the Plaza del Sol there will be an Italian Cypress tree planted in memory of Dar next to a plaque with his name on it. The plaque was made by the world famous Anacortes Brass Works - and it came out wonderful!
The Judge (who is our local Authority) informs us that the government is contemplating to execute 26 public works here in San Pancho – including; cobble stoning some more of the streets of San Pancho (including Calle Ceilan and Calle Primavera) - fixing up the main entrance to San Pancho and building a bridge across the rio connecting the new subdivision in front of the football field (which is a continuation of Calle Primavera) so you can get to the highway that way also. This will allow not only cars but people to use this bridge during the rainy season when the Los Izotes river is running.
The back road going from the Hospital to the Costa Azul area is being relocated at this moment. In that same area a new nine hole golf course will be soon built. For those golf lovers soon you can play right here in San Pancho in the near future.
It is now 88 F. It is getting hot - no rain yet...
Until next time,
