• San Pancho
I had the opportunity to attend the 3rd Art Festival “Sinergiarte 2008” (27-28 Dec) at San Francisco (San Pancho), Nayarit; this year’s edition was dedicated to create collective art works with recycled materials. For two days” Plaza del Sol” became a blend of Greenwich Village, Puerto Escondido, Haight Ashbury, San Miguel de Allende, and Tepoztlan, filled with colors, music, food stands, and joy, there was a open air art exhibit with colorful artwork of local artists, multicolored children speaking different languages played together at the plaza while parents listened to a wide variety of music from local artists, Joaquin Sabina’s songs by Carlos, recorded music from Gabon, and also popular American tunes, air of other times and places captivating the multiracial publics in the heart of Riviera Nayarit, (it is so good to listen to something different than “Banda”…)
Although San Pancho has always been in the public eye for its controversies starting during times of President Echeverria (1970-1976) with his plans of making it an self-sufficient town model for Third Word countries, and more recently with the works of the Company Emerald Coast:

For a weekend at least to me, the experience was to be at a little oasis of peace, a pristine spot of happy people in the spotless plaza. Congratulations to Erik Saracho and team!, and lets adopt the healthy practices of San Pancho, like recycling, cleaningness, openness of mind to choose and decide, and to be receptive to diverse cultural options in order to create a rich environment full of possibilities.
