Over the last couple of years, Vallarta
has become a world class golf destination. Consequently
and thanks to the enthusiasm of some of this sport’s
aficionados who are also in love with our city, the
“Vallarta Golf Cup” will take place for
the second consecutive year in a row, with cash prizes
being awarded as well as the “Swing Vallarta”
trophy.
Last year, and in spite of Hurricane
Kenna and its consequences, the organizers fulfilled
their commitment with great success. This year the organization
is already in process for the 2nd Vallarta Golf Cup
that will take place on November 13, 14 and 15, a few
days before the 48th
International Sailfish Fishing Tournament.
 With
the EMC2 World Cup Championship being held in our city
last year, and with the participation of Mexican golfer
Lorena Ochoa in the LPGA, the interest in golf in Mexico
has grown considerably, and it definitely predicts that
this year’s golf tournament will be even more
competitive and thrilling. Amateur golfers from all
over Mexico and the world will meet to compete on three
of the most spectacular golf courses of Puerto Vallarta.
These courses offer a real challenge and competitors
will be rewarded from the first moment that they step
onto their greens, considered as “sacred”
among those in the know. The first day of the tournament
will be held on the course designed by Tom Weiskopf
at Vista
Vallarta. On the second day, golfers will play on
the course designed by Jack Nicklaus, also at Vista
Vallarta, the site of the EMC2 World Golf Cup. The
final day’s play will be held on the difficult
course of Marina
Vallarta.
