2003 in The Mayan Country Club - Nuevo Vallarta |
Published at: http://www.1wtm.com
The first Stars Tournament was played
in the Mexican Valley. It was the first step towards
the national finals that will be held in The Mayan Palace
Nuevo Vallarta.
With the participation of 60 golfers
the first stage of the WAGOT AEROMEXICO ended at the
Coral Golf Resort in the Valley of Mexico. The main
objective of this stage was to achieve a simultaneous
revival of the true spirit of amateur golfing in Mexico
and the other Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil,
Uruguay, Chile, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Guatemala,
Puerto Rico, Mexico) along with South Florida, in the
US.
The numerous sponsors that supported
the event; such as Aeromexico, Nivada watches, Canon,
Don Julian Cigars, Pepsi, Bacardi, Rg Golf, ESPN 2,
Imagen Bajo Par, The Mayan Palace Nuevo Vallarta, Palmeiras
Residential, El Cid Golf Resort in Mazatlan, Moon Palace
Cancun and Par7; along with the support of the Directive
board of Coral Golf Resort, created a great impulse
for amateur golfing in Mexico.
For event purposes, the country was
divided into 4 zones (Mexican Valley, Central, Northern
and Western areas).
The
first phase of the tournament was defined in the following
courses: August 29th in the Torreon Country Club in
Coahuila, August 30th in the Santa Margarita Golf Club
in Iraputao and on September 6th in the Mayan Palace
Nuevo Vallarta in Nayarit.
It is important to highlight that
only the 2 best scores, out of the 5, will be the ones
considered for the big national finals. You can sign
up via Internet at Infolgolf Mexico: http://www.golf.com.mx
or via phone at Golf Center Mexico at 56 83 74 36, if
you live in the city, or at 01 800 333 GOLF (4653),
if you live in another region of the country.
