LETTERS TO EDITOR

July 20, 2003

Dear Editor,

To Anna: once again, thank you ! !

I went to mi casa in Conchas Chinas for a couple of weeks ...I took your advise and went to Once Upon A Time ...WOW ! ! That is the best ever... Very Nice People !

I also tried Encanto, again SUPER ! ! I never would have found it on my own. Thank You ! !

Pie In The Sky is also very good, but I had been there before. The lady who works there (Owner?) had some interesting comments on the new footbridge (which is, I guess, dead in the water). Another Boondoggle ! !

Jay

Dear Jay,
I’m glad that you agree with my “opinions” and thus enjoyed the offerings in both locations. (By the way, I too enjoy Pie in the Sky.)
With regard to the footbridge, the lady is right. Please see the separate article in this issue on that topic.
Anna

Dear Editor,

I have a very, very old watercolor signed by Lepe. Is there a way to know whether the artist of the watercolor was Manuel or Rodrigo?

I have heard that Rodrigo always signed his work R. Lepe, but I do not know. Can you help?
Thank you.
Bob Regoli

Dear Bob,
According to our sources, what you heard is correct. Rodrigo does indeed sign his works “R. Lepe”.
The Ed.

Dear Editor,

A couple of months ago, I happened to read an article in the “Voice” I believe. It dealt with the killing of 80 felines from the Island of the Rio Cuale.

Being an animal rights activist for 17 years, 10 in Tijuana and 7 in Vallarta, and an animal lover at heart, I became irate and frustrated a few days later when to no avail could I find out what had happened.

I went to talk to restaurant owners and waiters on the island. No one knew anything - total hermetism, some were even rude to me. Finally a gardener said he saw some people come with boxes, grab the cats, as most are gentle creatures, stuff them in boxes and take them away. He inquired, only to be told that the cats were taken away to be “cured” (none was sick) and would be returned with a collar around their necks. No one has ever seen them again!

Do we have a gas chamber in Vallarta? Or were they killed by strychnine? I do not wish this experience on any living being.

Do we have another killer among us in Vallarta, maybe by the name of Sr. Perez or Sr. Hernandez or Sr. Rodriguez? Who is the author of this crime? Is he “macho” enough in this “macho” land to step forward and say: “It was me.”? Or is he afraid to face a group of women volunteers for animal rights?

I brand him a coward, and dare him to call me and reveal his identity for there will be no end to this story - because I will hunt him down till I find him and then I shall deal with him. I want to see his face.

My desire to vindicate the death of 80 innocent creatures burns in me. Yes, it is “vendetta” as we say in Italy. I want Vallarta to know the killer who lives among us. Maybe he is someone from the Health Department and maybe his job places him in contact with children …something to ponder about.

There was another “solution” to the cat overpopulation. Why did he not call us? We do have many foster homes.

Thank you and please publish my name and telephone number:
Maria Petrone Grassi Morales, tel.: 222-6117.
