Dear Editor,
Vallarta's tourism industry is being
shortchanged by the those who promote the resort and
the airlines who serve the area. Has anyone ever done
a real marketing plan and targeted the high potential
consumer and business segments with strategies and tactics
that can be tracked for success?
Doubtful, given the results of Vallarta's
numbers the past year or two versus Cancun and other
destinations. The airlines serving Vallarta also are
not helping the situation with fares between the US
and Canada often much higher than US/Canada to European
locations. Alaska also has cut back flights and made
it more inconvenient to fly out of the Bay Area. We
have friends who would love to visit us but often find
the price of getting here is too steep. A friend in
Florida wanted to visit over Memorial Day and found
that a $900 roundtrip was the best fare he could find.

Hello.
I'm planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta
at the end of October. I was wondering if you had some
information on any Dia de los Muertos festivities that
may be going on in the city at that time. Thank you.
Michael Montuya
Dear Michael,
There are many events that occur on November 1st and
2nd in Vallarta, including an Art Walk, altar exhibits
in various parts of town, and of course a visit to the
local cemetery is a must!
The Ed.
Hola,
Have you dates for this season's
upcoming artwalks?
Muchas Gracias,
Sam
Dear Sam,
To the best of our knowledge, Vallarta’s famous
Art Walks should begin on the 29th of October.
The Ed.
Hello-
We are travelling to Puerto Vallarta
tomorrow from Washington, DC and are interested in finding
out if there is a synagogue and/or a Jewish community
center in the area.
I have seen several articles in your
publication - regarding the Chanukah and Passover celebrations
held there - but no other information about the Jewish
community.
I apologize for this last minute
request, but I just got the idea of writing to you.
Since we are leaving before dawn tomorrow, it will only
be helpful if you email me a contact place or person
today. If that isn't possible, I understand. I am most
appreciative of any help you can give me.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Beth Sloan
Dear Beth,
There is no synagogue or temple in Puerto Vallarta.
However, the local Jewish community does organize events
to celebrate the major holidays during the “high”
season, from November to April.
The Ed.
