LETTERS TO EDITOR

December 29, 2002

Dear Editor,

We've been coming to Vallarta for years and this year is no exception.
We are bringing seven others for a two week stay mid-January... and heard that the beach around the marina is a mess… We're staying at the Crown Paradise... any info on that area would be terrific.

Love your paper and all the terrific articles. The people of Vallarta are what keeps us coming back... We seem to go to Vallarta, then try somewhere else, go back to Vallarta and so on. This is the first time we're making it two years in a row!!!

Thanks a lot..
Dennise from Saskatchewan, Canada

Dear Dennise,

We just spoke to the folks at the Crown Paradise. All their beach lounges are out, the beach is fine and the hotel is operating at 100% efficiency, so your vacations should be very happy ones...

However, you should note that the Crown Paradise is NOT in the Marina area. It is located on the stretch of beach south of the Maritime Terminal...

Have a safe trip and a wonderfully Merry Christmas!

The Ed.

Hi,

I am from Vancouver, B.C., and I'm staying in Bucerias.
I was wondering if you allow "drop-in" Pilates, like maybe once or twice this week.
I have been taking Pilates at home for two years (at the Dianne Miller Pilates center). Thanx.

Ariel

Dear Ariel,
There are quite a few places offering Pilates that we know of, in Nuevo Vallarta and of course in Puerto Vallarta too. You would have to call them to find out if they accept "drop-in" clients.
The Ed.

Dear Editor,

Thanks to Monika & Barbara who sponsored "Christmas Cheer at Tapas" last Friday evening, December 20th to spread Christmas cheer for the children's shelter Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza (R.I.S.E.) The event raised over $6,500 pesos which will provide fresh fruit and veggies to the children for one year!

Our hearts are grateful and thankful to all who joined in and made this such a wonderful and glorious event. The entertainment and songs of Christmas were sung by Barbara and her niece, as well as Monika and their 3rd sister whom we met for the first time, and a wonderful sing-a-long by all that attended. God bless to all those who contributed. This is what Christmas is all about!!!!!

Thanks again for your support in spreading the news of giving by all those of us who live in Vallarta and those who visit and get to enjoy our lives in Paradise.

Warmest,
Sudy Coy

Dear Editor,

I want to know why the person at the Puerto Vallarta airport at the departures X-ray screening machine, took my batteries that were new in the original package.

I asked the man that took the batteries at the machine and he said "Batteries could explode on the plane". I had batteries in my radio, camera, CD players and walkie-talkies, and he didn't take those. This has never happened (to me) before at any airport.

I love Mexico and have been coming to Mexico (Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa & Cancun) for more than 20 yrs. And this has never happened before. I talked with other passengers on my flight home and they had this happen to them at this airport.

Could you check into this?

Hello,

I am visiting your fine city on December 31st for a one week stay. I've found a lot of great information but the one thing I'm trying to find out, I'm not having any luck with.

I am wondering how New Year's Eve is celebrated there.

Thanks

Lesley Jakob,
Winnipeg, Manitoba

Dear Leslie,
As a general rule, folks go out for a special New Year's Eve dinner in one of the numerous wonderful restaurants in this town. There are also many private parties in people's homes.
There are fireworks in the center of town and all around the bay as the different hotels celebrate, and there is music everywhere.
The attire is mostly casual, i.e.: short sleeved shirts for men and ties are rarely used here.
The Ed.

Dear Editor:

Thank you for this wonderful way (www.pvmirror.com) to keep in touch with our favorite vacation spot.

We will be down in PV again the 1st of February and be staying until the 1st of April. My husband is an amateur radio operator and as we are driving down this year from Canada he will have his mobile rig. Where does he apply for a Mexican license to operate in Mexico?

I have sent letters to various organizations since September and have had no response. Any assistance you can give us will be very much appreciated.

Dear Rosalie,
We haven't been able to find an answer to your query, but perhaps one of our readers can enlighten us…
The Ed.

Dear Editor,

Where is the Gold's Gym to be located in Puerto Vallarta?
Thank you for your response.

Jon Stanley

Dear Jon,
Gold's Gym is located in Plaza Genoveza. You should have no trouble whatsoever in finding it once you get down here.
The Ed.
