LETTERS TO EDITOR

February 16, 2003

Dear Editor:

I certainly was glad to see your comments about Victor's restaurant, Tacuba at the Marina. We started eating with Victor when he first opened and only had a bar and a couple of tables. We spend quite a bit of time at the Mayan Palace and at the Pacifica Reef Club, both just across the street from the Marina, so we became regular customers of his. I am quite happy with his success even though it means we can't always get a table for lunch.

However, I am also happy to say the new owners of the Port Hole, a couple of doors down from Victor, have settled in Puerto Vallarta with all their family and have redone the menu there and adjusted the prices to be in line with Victor's. Now we can go to either, and both are excellent with down to earth prices.

We are having a great deal of difficulty finding the Tribune in Old Town. Back home I always logged on to the paper (www.pvmirror.com) and read it each Tuesday. Down here we are not online that often and I miss reading my favorite "She Said…"

Do you have any idea of what location is getting a distribution weekly? We are down on Olas Altas daily and thought that Santa Barbara, the Hotel, or the Pharmacy would surely have a copy. One way or another we will find one.

Faithful readers from Tennessee

Hi.

My name is Jan-Maarten, I live in Holland, I read your articles on the internet (www.pvmirror.com) Nice review of the restaurant "Le Gourmet" we are going to Mexico on 26 March. It's very cold right now in the Netherlands so we're looking forward to it. Do you have other nice tips we can go to or visit?

Greetz from Holland

Dear Editor,

In past years we have enjoyed the Sunday Brunch at the Sheraton Buganvilias.

Since this hotel is closed until June 30, can you advise where a Sunday Brunch is available (with Mariachi, hopefully) in March 2003?

Thank you,
Brian L.

Dear Brian,
Fret not, there are many other lovely venues where you can enjoy a Sunday Brunch in Puerto Vallarta, and if there is no Mariachi band, there will surely be live music of some other kind to enhance your dining pleasure.
To mention but a couple, both the Quinta Real and the Westin Regina Resort in the Marina offer fabulous Sunday Brunches.
The Ed.

Hello,

I want to thank you for such a great website about PV. I have been visiting it frequently throughout the week for about a year now.
I must say that I love Puerto Vallarta. My first visit was in November of 2001, my 30th B-day present! Since then, I have been back 3 more times, my fourth to be at the end of February. I fell in love on my first visit. Right then and there, on my first visit, I decided that I want to move to PV and start a new life there... put up a business, eventually buy a residency... I currently live in Pasadena, CA, and have been living in the LA area for 23 years. To say the least, I am sick of it here... the rush, the fast paced life, running around in traffic, bills, bills, bills... it just never seems to end. For some time now, I have been looking around for a new place to call home, and guess what? I found it... from my first trip till now, I look on the many websites dealing with PV to gather as much information as possible. I am about to make my 5th visit to further gather more info. And from everything I have gathered... surfing the net, talking with natives that live in PV, talking with Americans/Canadians/Europeans that have moved to PV, talking with business owners (both Mexican and Americans), and just walking around and absorbing everything... I have come to the same conclusion... "This Is Definitely The Place I Want To Move To!"

So, I am now in the process of selling all my belongings, paying off all my debts, saving money, and making the move by the end of this year. I realize that I have a huge task in front of me, as I liquidate virtually everything... but I figure, 'nothing is easy in life...you want something, you have to work for it, sweat for it, put many hours into it... only then can you truly get somewhere.'

So, that's where I am now, getting everything together... and working my way to the end of this year, when everything, God willing, will come together.

Reading the many articles, looking at the pictures, seeing all the updates is one of the informative tools that I have utilized during these times, and I want to thank you all for being such a great help.

Hopefully, one day, in the very very near future, I can be one of the many happy people that I have read about in the Tribune and pvmirror.com

Take care,
Taniel C.

Re: The busing issue

Dear Editor,

A very drastic problem here in Vallarta.
Being a resident and a businessman here for the last thirty-five years… I still love this village as it has grown so fast with a lot of improvements..
Although there are so many people to transport for various reasons, our enemy are the buses that kill, and damage properties.
The city has the power to control the buses by eliminating permits and canceling all exiting permits. The city also can have their own public transport with added revenue for them.
There are solutions, but all want their share of payoff (mordida).

What more can I say?
Your paper is great.
Always waiting for the next issue.

Thanks,
Chico

Dear Editor,

Just wanted to say that both my husband and I would like to see fewer buses in downtown P.V.
