Dear Editor,
I am going to Puerto Vallarta on
June 21st and staying at the Mayan Palace for two weeks.
I would like to make reservations for Felipe’s
Restaurant on July 1st for two at 7:30 P.M.
Can you please confirm. Thank you.
Gloria Taddeo
Dear Gloria,
We don’t take reservations
for the restaurants that advertise with the Tribune,
but we did forward your e-mail to them. They should
be in touch with you shortly. You can also log on to
their own web site at www.felipes.com

Hi,
I'm looking to get a definitive word
on exactly how long that big tamale was last Sunday.
Can you help?
Thanks,
Mary Beth
Dear Mary Beth,
According to the articles published following the event,
the World’s Biggest Tamal measured exactly 215
meters and 30 centimeters in length or 706.36 feet.

Dear Editor,
Could you please advise the current
exchange rate for Canadian Dollars and also the U.S.
Dollar? Thank you.
Pat & Ron
Dear Pat & Ron,
You can always check the exchange
rate in the comfort of your home by logging on to www.oanda.com
Remember that it is continually
changing. Also, the banks and exchange booths in Vallarta
(if you intend to visit us) all handle offer rates,
with hotels always being the worst.
Your best bet is still a debit
card with which you may withdraw funds from your account
“at home” at the best exchange rates, at
any of the local ATM’s.

Dear Editor,
In answer to the reader seeking information
about the bus to Guadalajara -
The ETN bus line has a bus that leaves
a little after midnight every night arriving in Guadalajara
early the next morning. You can sleep on the extremely
comfortable bus and when you wake up you are in Guadalajara
where you can spend the day shopping and touring.
Although ETN has buses that return
and depart throughout the day, a good time to return
is the 6:30 pm bus back to PV where you will arrive
around 11 pm. It is a great way to see Guadalajara if
you do not have a lot of time and you can do it any
day of the week.
Check ETN for exact times and also
remember that for seniors showing a passport when purchasing
a ticket, ETN gives a 50% discount off the ticket price!
I’m not certain the age limit but I believe it
is anyone over 60.

Dear Maria,
Thank you so much! I knew one of our readers would come
through with the proper information.

Hello friends,
I'm sending this to the Tribune,
hoping they will publish this in their next edition,
maybe even in every edition as a warning - “Public
Beware of Pemex Rip Off!!!” as well as all of
you that live in Vallarta because this is not the first
time this has happened to me at the local gas pump.
As a matter of fact, 3 times at the downtown Pemex,
just past the Hotel Buenaventura & once at the Pemex
by the airport. So please pass this on to all in your
local contact list.
Bottom line is: You CANNOT take
your eyes off the pump meter, period.
Pump man will try & distract
you, & there is a button on the pumps that can change
the price, either to the previous fill up or to the
amount you asked for. Example, if you ask for 250 pesos,
before the pump automatically stops at 250 pesos, Pump
man will stop it so it reads 250 pesos BUT the liter
reading is 'Din' or 'dIN'. If this happens DO NOT PAY,
say you want to know how many liters he put in your
car (& a calculated amount on a CALCULATOR doesn't
cut it, sorry Pump man!!) After about 3, "I WILL
NOT PAY" & Pump man hitting his pump, saying
it's broken, "No sirve esta maquina!". An
attempt toward the office may work too, but maybe not!
And then miraculously your true pesos amount & liters
appears, where they should have been in the first place.
Okay, so why else is Pump man waving
as you drive up to pull into HIS station!!! Because
he really wants to give you excellent Pemex service,
ya right. I'd like to see Pump man working at our local
grocery stores, “Over here madam. I can ring those
items through right away for you.” Think about
that one!!
By the way, this last time, my pesos
reading was 232, an 18 pesos difference & no, I
don't need your handy calculator to figure that out,
but thanks anyway, Sr. Pemex Pump Man.
Very Upset
