LETTERS TO EDITOR

October 21, 2002.

Dear Anna,

Your next to last paragraph (last week) says it all. I would rather be there also, than anywhere else I have ever been. If the stock market will start back in the right direction, I may yet get to retire and make it before I die...

I look forward to reading "pvmirror.com" every week... at least I can pretend I am reading the local news...

Dear Editor,

The brief article about "excessive (electric) fees" in the Oct. 7 issue prompted me to finally write. My friends and I have been comparing our bills for the last year and no two of us are charged the same rate, i.e. pesos per kWh.

Since Sept/Oct 1997 I have been charged a different rate on EVERY bill I've received (all at the same address). Twice this year the rate has jumped into the .7's (March/April .793 and July/Aug .731).

Can anyone from CFE explain how/why different rates are calculated and who decides what each resident will be charged?

Thanks,
MM

Dear Anna,

I remember reading in your column a mention of a place in Vallarta for good
fish and chips and can not find it now. Would you be so kind as to email the
name and address of the business?

Thanks,
D. O.

Dear D.O.,
The name of the first -and still the best- Fish 'N Chips place to open in Vallarta is "La Marinera" and it is located at 171 San Salvador. That's right across from the new Sr. Frog store at the northern end of town, across from the Buenaventura Hotel, near the Cinema Luz Maria, just a couple of doors up from the main drag. Tel.: 222-4424.

Dear Anna:

Since you have asked, I may venture an interpretation of the tourism statistics in your column, of October 14, 2002:

The people from other places are a small and diminishing group. All other percentages in the chart must be suspect.

Such it is with much of the "information" that is published. It is unfortunate, but it is all to
frequent. You may want to ask for a clarification from the source. This type of information could be useful if it were believable and an effort should be made so that the public can better understand.

Sincerely,
R.C. Walker

The tourists are coming! The tourists are coming!

Is that why Wal Mart suddenly increased their prices? (My favorite bath gel went up 40%!)
Interesting since their TV commercials depict a little masked character SLASHING prices.
I guess this is the thanks we get for supporting local businesses all summer.
I hope the winter residents and tourists bring lots of $$$ this year.

Dear Editor,

I have enjoyed the golf articles that Peter has been doing -- knowing nothing about the game except you hit a white ball… His articles have been both informative and very humorous at the same time.

I'm also glad that Ricky is back writing -- I loved her latest escapade at Barcelona Tapas!!!!

Keep it up!

E. P.

Well, we bantered about these blinking buses all summer - what's going
to be done? Is the press following up? Hopefully these irresponsible people won't be re-elected.

Still Steamin'
