LETTERS TO EDITOR

October 7, 2002.

Hello,

Last year we were fortunate to listen to a concert given by Paco Renteria at the Camino Real in December.

Could you please tell us if he is going to be giving a concert anytime in December of this year?

Thank you, sincerely
Jacquie and Ernie Escajeda

Dear readers,
To the best of our knowledge, the only time that seems to have been confirmed for Paco to return to Vallarta is in the month of November, during the Arts Festival scheduled for that month.
We are not aware of any performance dates for December as of yet.
The Ed.

This is for Anna,

My husband & I have visited PV many times since 1988 and have often imagined how beautiful it must be during the rainy season. This little ditty just arrived on my email today and it seemed fitting to send it your way. Keep up the good work.

"Dust if you must but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter,
Bake a cake or plant a seed.
Ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
Music to hear and books to read,
Friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go and go you must,
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Remember, "A house becomes a home when you can write "I love you" on
the furniture..."

Dear Editor,

This article was published in the Seattle Times recently and I found it may serve a purpose to publish it here:

"Malaysia's tourism minister said taxi drivers who were rude to visitors should be 'lined up against the wall and shot', the New Straits Times newspaper reported. Culture, Arts and Tourism Minister, Abdul Fadzir, said taxi drivers who were rude or had cheated tourists in Malaysia had become a 'serious problem.

The government has spent lots of money and put in a lot of effort to attract tourists. Taxi drivers who behave in this way are traitors to our country and deserve to be shot.' The minister said the government was considering raising the deposit taxi companies pay to register vehicles if driver standards were not improved."

Maybe attitudes here in Vallarta would improve if more stringent measures were leveled against individual drivers.

Just A Thought,
M.M.
