Dear Editor, I
have been a regular in PV for the last 3 years and spend 1/2 the year in PV. However,
I have never been in Vallarta on Dia de Los Muertos. I will be this year. I
am familiar with the meaning of the day but, I don't know what happens in PV and
what is customary. For example, a friend told me to go to the grave yard, it is
a "party atmosphere"??? I am having company and would like to join in
the "celebration of the dead" but I don't want be disrespectful so I
would appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks in advance, Judy
K. Dear Judy, This year's celebrations and yes,
they are celebrations indeed, fall on a weekend so you will get all the information
you need in the Tribune of the preceding week. Worry not, we're sure that you
will behave most appropriately after reading all about this beautiful tradition. The
Ed.
Dear Editor - Well,
here we go again - there were three separate articles last week lamenting the
local authorities and their lack of response/caring to long standing problems. Why
aren't they doing something about the traffic problems? Why
are they allowing taxi blockades? Why aren't they enforcing the commercial sign
regulations? I realize some problems are complex and require
time to solve (eight years to decide on a convention center?, please!). But these
problems already have solutions, so why isn't anything being done? The
city wants to be a first rate tourist destination, but it can't even manage to
license city buses! Does the city realize the revenue
from licenses would pay for street maintenance - and probably a lot more? I
hope this isn't a case of the transportation unions running the city instead of
the presiding officials. Please, stand up and actually
SOLVE some problems - or resign yourselves to being a small town with confused
goals and limited abilities. Git Movin' ! M.M. P.S.:
Congratulations to the 'mini' bus operators for trying to enlighten the mayor.
From now on, whenever possible, I'll ride their buses. P.P.S.:
What, if any, punishment will be given to the bus driver that killed the man in
front of Ciné Bahía a couple weeks ago?
Good
morning, I would be interested learning more about the SOS Animal Rescue shelter
- there was no phone/e-mail address to contact with the piece in the paper this
week. Have a great day. D. H.-P. Dear
D., We will have a more in-depth report on this organization next week, but
in the meantime, you could get in touch with them at 293-2018, 293-0108 or 224-3978. The

Hi. The
rumor mill has it that Chef Rogers is closed and not reopening after the summer
season is over. Please say this isn't so!! Do you have
any information regarding this?? Beth S. Dear Beth, Unfortunately
we have heard the same rumors as you. If we hear anything more, we will let you
know right away. The Editor
Dear
Anna: Haven't submitted anything to you in some months
now, but I felt that the following needed to be read bysomeone that maybe can
help me out. The other night someone tried to break in
to my apartment. This was between 1a.m. and 1:30a.m. Myfront door sits a good
30 feet from the street, so I knew it was something serious rather than kids justmessing
around. I called 060 three times and all 3 times the girl
on the other end HUNG UP on me. Twice I said "someone is breaking into my
apartment". The third time I said "I need help!". A
couple minutes later a friend showed up and called 060 - and by his tone "demanded"
help. The policewere there within 2 to 3 minutes. My complaint is not with the
police - because they were concerned and vthorough -- but with getting someone
NOT to hang up on me when there's an emergency! Possibly they could have spotted
someone leaving my doorway if there hadn't been a delay. There should be SOMEONE
at 060 at all times that speaks English don't you think? Who can do something
about this? Do you have any words of wisdom for me? Needs
to know. Thank you. D. S. Dear D.S., I wish
I did have words of wisdom for you, but I don't. Maybe some of our readers will. Anna Archives
