Press Release

A Very Special Event at the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe

A special Easter event will take place at the Parroquia de Guadalupe from April 5 th to 16 th . At the request of Padre Estaban, a rare piece of Verde Antique marble will be displayed for the services. The event is based on a fascinating marble stone that was discovered in Seattle, Washington, on June 28, 1993.

The discovery came when Robert Lang was actually cutting the marble himself to lay it on his recording studio floor. He was altered by a flash of light that drew his eyes to the marble's center where an image that was not there before was now very visible. In the white veins of the stone (naturally occurred) a formation of a male, human-like image holding a candle with a flame is present. After examination, it was quite clear what the image was, so the need to share this awesome piece of marble and story of light has been with him ever since.

It is believed by Seattle and Puerto Vallarta clerics to tell the story of the Risen Christ.

Banderas Regatta News

The Banderas Bay International Regatta kicked off with the traditional competitor's parade between the Paradise Resort Nuevo Vallarta breakwaters, entering the bay under clear, blue tropical skies. Winds of 8 knots allowed the fleet of forty-six boats to sail to the course in preparation for the eight class starts. This year's fleet ranged in size from 23 feet to 80 feet in length and was primarily a cruiser's regatta with one superstar and one trailer boat to add variety. Temperatures in the low 80's and the general party atmosphere had boat crews dancing along their side decks, waving at the crowds of spectators.

Friday's races began at 13:30 local time with class one and succeeding classes starting every five minutes through class seven. The only casualties were those who neglected the SPF 15 or stronger sun block... Spectators on the beach had clear views of the starts and the spinnaker run back to the line.

Saturday's race showed more awareness of the course and the line with exciting starts and no over early restarts. By Sunday, with winds at 12 to 13 knots, the starts were much more aggressive, even for the cruisers, and as a result two boats plugged themselves into untenable spots at the Committee boat end as the count reached single digits. To avoid the looming possibility of a collision they opted to cross early but made quick restarts, losing little time on their fleet. These winds made Magnitude's start even more impressive than previous days as she pursued the seven classes strung along the course.

Regatta events ashore were every bit as much fun as the action on the course, starting on Thursday with the welcome reception at the Paradise Hotel Amphitheater. This affair included a hosted bar, snacks and a performance by Nayarit Ballet Folklorico's stunning hula dancers. Friday and Saturday after-race festivities moved to the Vallarta Yacht Club clubhouse where there was live music to help the charged-up racers burn off any leftover energy. Sunday evening the Grand Awards Banquet started off with giant Margaritas and an awsome buffet. The crews mingled, exchanging guesses of their fleet standing and offering excuses for various aspects of their performance until the final results were announced.
