Cornerstone Excellence in Health Care
Provided by Ambito

Last week, the construction of a new hospital in Puerto Vallarta was announced in a press conference at the NH Krystal Convention rooms. The press conference was given by Doctor Raul Marquez Ambrosio, founder and president of the Cornerstone Hospital System, Carlos Marquez Ambrosio, President of the Mexican division of Cornerstone Hospitals, and director of the new Puerto Vallarta hospital; Juan Enrique Hernandez, CPA, Administrative Director of Cornerstone Puerto Vallarta Hospital, and Doctor Max Greig, Medical Director.

The new hospital offering the same quality health care as the Cornerstone Hospital System offers in South Texas, where it originated, is expected to open by late January of early February, 2005; and its being built on a plot nearby Plaza Caracol, on Avenida Los Tules.

Dr. Marquez Ambrosio summarized the concept of the hospital by saying "the Cornerstone health system offers reasonable prices, a health center of excellence and human value." By using the latest medical technology, Cornerstone seeks to restore the patient's health in a minimum time, enabling the patient to reincorporate his or her normal activities as soon as possible, thus reducing the physical and psychological trauma of an intrusive surgery and a long recovery period. "We want to have patients back at their home within a day or two" said Dr. Marquez.

Puerto Vallarta was chosen by Cornerstone to establish their first Mexico hospital because of numerous reasons. A multicultural population, great weather, and infrastructure that compares to that of spas in Europe, with the obvious goal to make Puerto Vallarta an international health center, where people vacation not only for sun and fun, but for health as well.

The importance of Cornerstone is not measured by the number of beds, but by the number of procedures or patients. The new Cornerstone Hospital will offer a complete range of health services, from consultation to outside patients, emergency, specialty surgery, and post-operation rehabilitation, as well as health promotion and educational programs. The hospital's board will study special cases of patients requiring financial assistance, in order to provide them with affordable care.

Cornerstone physicians are rigorously selected, and required to stay up to date. Their credentials are revised once a year.

Ambitious expansion plans for the near future were also announced. Once the hospital is consolidated, satellite clinics will be built in nearby towns, as well as other hospitals in Mexican cities similar to Vallarta.
