Puerto Vallarta Port Expansion
We are contemplating the expansion of our cruise ship facilities with the plan to construct two brand new piers with capacity for up to three of the industry's largest vessels. Puerto Vallarta has a lot to offer to the cruise ship vacationers during their stay. The security of the city and the hospitality of the people make Puerto Vallarta a place to remember.
The expansion of the harbor infrastructure includes the construction of two docks for cruisers of 983.60 ft in length and partial demolition of dock 2 at a cost of $15,800,622 USD.
Puerto Vallarta received 96 ships and 142,824 passengers in 1997, 164 ships and 362,248 passengers in 2002. This increase represents 180% in ships and 253.6% in passengers. By 2004,we have already scheduled more than 200 cruises arrivals.
Growing expectations are as follows:

Benefits of the project:
- The facility would be able to satisfy the actual demand and through the next 20 years.
- Other ports of the shipping route would increase their arrivals as well as their profits for both; city and port.
- Port facilities in Puerto Vallarta could be used by the cruise lines as home port.
- The project is financially above the standard parameter established by the Federal Government.
- If the two berthing positions are built, $317.5 USD millions are calculated to be added to the city economy by the cruise ship tourists during the next 20 years.
