The project of the amplification of the infrastructure of Puerto Vallarta’s port has generated great interest amongst the different local universities and amongst various states of the country. During the month of March, coordinators of the degree courses of Architecture and Engineering of the University of the Valley of Atemajac (UNIVA) with their campuses in Leon and Puerto Vallarta, of the Technological Institute of Banderas Bay, of the Higher Technological Institute of Puerto Vallarta, of the Coastal University Center of the University of Guadalajara, of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi, amongst others, have asked permission for their students to have the opportunity to get to know the construction process of the two piers. In order to have a better interaction with the local community of Puerto Vallarta and in order to show the port’s construction work to the local kids and teenagers, API Vallarta - the port authority - carries out the program "Visit your Port". Thanks to this program 5334 students of different academic levels had visited the facilities by the end of the year 2005.

Likewise the boat Marigalante which offers daily excursions through the bay leaving from the port was chosen by the company Televisa as the site for shooting a commercial with the players of the Mexican soccer team, sports commentators and famous stars which will be aired during the World Soccer Championship taking place in Germany soon. This will certainly be an important and additional promotional broadcast for Puerto Vallarta.
