FISHING TOURNAMENT
The 51st International Puerto Vallarta Sailfish and Marlin Tournament -
Is almost here!... It is almost here!
A great furor of such magnitude has begun to be formed around the most traditional fishing tournament of Mexico. It is predicted that a "tsunami" of competitiveness and excitement will be flooding the ambiance of Puerto Vallarta during the month of November.
The Fishing Club of Puerto Vallarta, headed by the Mr. Raul Serna, general director of the tournament, has started the international promotion of the 2006 tournament, taking maximum advantage of the experience acquired through more than fifty years, as well as of the synergy generated by the results obtained in the last years.
Many of the sponsors and sectors who in the past have been supporting and contributing in a relevant way so that the event may be carried out, have already confirmed their continued participation for this year, thus guaranteeing the tournament to be even more spectacular. This time the tournament will be celebrated on the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th of November.
One of first advertising medium to publish something about the tournament is the prestigious and specialized magazine "Sports Fishing". Starting with the April edition, fishermen from all over the world are invited to register and to participate. There is a whole page with information, including dates of the tournament and the jack-pot list of prizes that will be awarded. In this publication the emblematic painting of the tournament stands out which was created again by the Vallarta painter Ada Colorido. For this edition she combined in her painting the cheerful and picturesque scenes of our destination with the fishing tradition of the town.
In its May edition the magazine "Marlin - The International Sports Fishing Magazine,” published an article on why Vallarta has gained the reputation to be one of the best fishing grounds in the world, pointing out that in addition to the great concentration of different species such as sailfish, black marlin, blue marlin, mahi-mahi and wahoo –which are found in the area amongst other fish– their size and their weight assure that a fishing day will almost always turn into a challenging and unforgettable adventure in our Bay of Banderas and its surroundings.
During the last two years of the tournament the participation has been increasing like never before reaching a record high of 282 competitors in 102 boats. The prediction says that during this occasion this number will be surpassed because of the promotion strategy which has gotten under way.
During a brief interview Mr. Raul Serna ―who was named director of the tournament by the Fishing Club of Puerto Vallarta― shared the following information with us: "the level of commitment to fulfill this year’s objectives and expectations has become so strong for each one of the members of the Fishing Club, that we have started with the promotion campaign for the 51st International Puerto Vallarta Sailfish and Marlin Tournament earlier than ever before in the history of our club.
At this moment the participation of the majority of the sponsors is already confirmed. This aspect allows us to assure that the total jackpot of our awarded prizes will be more than ‘Two hundred thousand dollars.’
We are aware that right now we are the organizers of the most prestigious and most traditional tournament in Mexico, and our aim for the near future is to also be recognized as those that organize and celebrate the tournament with the highest turnout and the highest success in the world. We will do whatever is necessary to achieve this. However we always give preference to the promotion of our destination as a fishing paradise, and we honor the association we belong to and above all we honor the people of Puerto Vallarta that we represent through the tournament.”
The adrenalin has begun to flow and the forecasts predict that the 2006 fishing tournament will generate more excitement, and above all, more world-wide promotion for our destination.
See you next time….
