The Marriott CasaMagna Puerto Vallarta Resort recently announced that it has implemented Marriott’s new, more luxurious bedding which features plusher mattresses, softer sheets, more pillows, and a new, fresh, white look. The new bedding is part of the company’s global makeover which will utilize over 30 million yards of fabric-enough to stretch more than two thirds of the way around the world. By year end, the company expects that 628,000 beds at approximately 2,400 hotels worldwide, across eight brands, will have the new look and feel.
The new bedding is the brand standard for all Marriott Hotels & Resorts and as part of the makeover, the company is replacing tradicional bedspreads with freshly laundered linens, making Marriott’s new bedding the cleanest and freshest of any major hotel chain.
The bedding at the Marriott CasaMagna Puerto Vallarta will feature 300-thread-count, cotton-rich, white top and fitted bottom sheets, more pillows, and a thicker, more comfortable mattress with the addition of a two- to four-inch mattress topper. The stylized bedding will also be accented with Euroshams, a decorative bed scarf and an optional bolster.
The company conducted extensive consumer research on the new bedding for all its brands. More than four out five of the 1,000 guests surveyed preferred the new bedding and said they liked the stylish design and appearance, calling it fresh, inviting and comfortable. They also said the new bedding would increase their preference for a Marriott brand.
Under Marriott’s “Spirit To Serve Our Communities” program, participating hotels will have the opportunity to make charitable contributions of the replaced bed linens, including sheets, bedspreads, blankets, pillows and pillowcases to the Department of Integral Development of the Family of the State of Jalisco, Santa Esperanza Orphanage, and the San Juan Diego Nursing Home.

Photo mural unveiled at CUC
In view of the lack of spaces for the development of top level cultural activities ijn Puerto Vallarta, the Extension Coordinator for CUCosta, Jorge Alberto Vargas Moreno said that there is an urgent need to create a cultural center in response to the needs of an international tourist destination. “In accordance with the idea of Rector Javier Orozco Alvarado, our Port requires a cultural vision including a mega project to accommodate all forms of artistic expression.”
The speech was given before the attendance at the unveiling of the photographic mural “Alaska: the Lost Land of Salmon”, by Andres Bucio Galindo, offered to the university community at the Edulab facility. “It wouldn’t be fair to think that the scarce efforts in the municipality would provide real coverage to the activities demanded by the whole Banderas Bay region.”
The author presented the way of life that five fishermenand a dog led during five months while fishingdifferent varieties of salmon in southeastAlaska.
He also commented on the way the images were captured, by using only a pocket 35mm. camera, in spite of the prohibition, according to the work behavior code, to take photos.
“It is worth noting the situation of illegal Mexican workers in Alaska, there are even mafias or networks that produce forged documents to allow fishermen to work on the seas for great profits.”
The author studied Communication, Ecology and Environmental Management at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City; and Sustainable Development at the London University College. He has published essays and study cases in Mexico, Brasil, United Kingdom, Germany and Holland. He is currently member of the faculty at CUCosta and a contributor to the CUC Gazette.
