Gala Weekend
Every year, the Bay of Banderas renews the conditions tourists need to continue to enjoy her beaches, weather, scenery, dining, people, culture, etc.
To that effect, all of the key players in this wonderful destination’s lodging and services industry, coordinate to invite, greet, pamper and negotiate the best conditions possible with our best ambassadors, the tour operators and travel wholesalers.
It can be said lightly, but Gala Weekend, represents huge efforts and a long experience of promotions, negotiations and foresight. We have come a long, long way.
It all started with the “Tianguis Turístico” held yearly in Acapulco for the past 32 years, with the same purpose of Gala, but meant to encompass all the promoters of all Mexican destinations.
The Tianguis Turístico had to evolve from mainly fiesta to mainly business; from mainly exhibition space to mainly negotiation spaces.
Eventually as the tourism business grew in sophistication and specialization, Vallarta and the Bay of Banderas understood they held a very special position they had to maintain by means of holding their own tourism trade show.
This gave birth to our Gala, where we can cater to those committed to Vallarta and the Bay of Banderas and fine-tune those conditions to the present and future circumstances of the trade so that all, local services’ providers, travel agents and tourists can make the best of Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit.
This year Gala was held from the 2nd to the 4th of March at the convention center of the Paradise Village Resort, while also holding social events such as a welcome cocktail inaugurating the penthouse terrace of the new Mandala Club and a closing banquet at the Grand Velas Resort.
One of the highlights of Gala was the presence of charismatic Nayarit Governor Ney González at the closing banquet, who spoke knowingly and with humor about the trade, about teamwork between Nayarit and Jalisco, and the overall promotion of Mexico.
It goes without saying that with such Gala as this year’s, Vallarta, the Riviera Nayarit and their hosts are looking better than ever.
