I Madonnari Festival 2008 in PV, a total success !

Puerto Vallarta Local NewsPainters from Santa Barbara, California and Puerto Vallarta embedded their work on the city’s main square.

Last month the III Festival I Madonnari Puerto Vallarta 2008 took place at the city’s main square. The event was organized by the sister Cities Committee of Santa Barbara and the municipality of Puerto Vallarta, through its sub-direction for art and culture.

In this chapter the participation of artists such as: Alice Crittenden, Kathy Coury, Ann Hefferman, Delphine Louis, Tracy Stum, Cecelia Linayao, Blair Looker, who arrived from Santa Barbara, California, to be part of this colorful event where impressing images were shown at the plaza.

Local artists also participated, they largely decided to paint original images. Paintings performed to create conscience about several themes that affect society throughout the world, in order to send a message to the minds of those who are willing to come close to observe them.

A lot of people bore witness to the existing talent in Puerto Vallarta.

Santa Bárbara relation brings PV a better police Training

City Mayor, Javier Bravo Carbajal, recognized the importance of maintaining the brotherhood links among Puerto Vallarta and the city of Santa Barbara, California, mainly due to the exchange in training of the police forces maintained between both cities for several years.

Puerto Vallarta Local NewsThe above was revealed during the closing ceremony and awards delivery for the courses “Basic Protection of High Officers” and “Basic Pistol Handling”, which were given to the staff of Public Safety, Transit and Firemen of the municipality as well as to the officers of Tomatlán and Cabo Corrientes, in Jalisco; and Bahía de Banderas, in Nayarit; in addition to army personnel, state public safety and the judicial police of the neighboring state.

Said courses were given by personnel of the Sheriff’s Department of Santa Barbara, California, through the Sister Cities Committee, with the outstanding participation of a woman.

The city mayor emphasized the active participation of both cities, as it “allows for frontiers to be overcome and links of friendship to sprout, as well as collaboration processes that are sustained by the simple fact of mutual help that make us better cities to our countries”.

The city mayor also thanked the Santa Barbara committee for the great support they have always given to our city, mainly with courses like these which took 63 hours in the facilities of the Regional Academy, where 68 officers of the aforementioned corporations participated.

Grateful words were spoken thanking the instructors from the Sheriff’s Department of Santa Barbara: Ray Gamboa, Juan Camarena and Fil Willis, adding that “training is the best tool to face the professional challenges we find in our line of work, that is why this course becomes another tool that will transform them into better public servants”.

Ejido Puerto Vallarta Celebrates its 79th Anniversary

With the recognition for the great job and contributions the Ejido Puerto Vallarta has represented to the development of the municipality, the city mayor shared the celebrations of the 79th anniversary of the foundation of this nucleus last Friday.

In his message, the city mayor pointed out that we are talking about the oldest ejido in this destination, and it has been a keystone in the port’s growth, contributing with benefits to its community, be it by lending its facilities for teaching the future generations as well as donating land for parks, schools or transcendental works for Vallartenses.

The members of the board of the comisariado ejidal headed by Esteban García Aréchiga, were congratulated for their great contribution to the development of the municipality and our touristic destination.

PV Continues to be a Safe Place for Visitors

Puerto Vallarta Local NewsWith an investment of 209,000 pesos and with the purpose of presenting a better image, the 78 officers of the touristic police of Puerto Vallarta, who are the face of the municipal government, were delivered new uniforms.

Accompanied by councilors, public officials and Ricardo González Pérez, representative of the 41st Military Zone; the city mayor remarked that the city continues to be safe for tourism, therefore a very important aspect is reinforced, such as the fitting of the police corporation of the area, focused on providing safety to visitors.

Each officer forming this group will receive three uniforms including shirt, shorts and saracof, delivering a total of 234 garments designed by Jalisco artist Sergio Bustamante, who was also thanked for the support provided to this municipality.

In View of 2009’s Forecasts, efforts backing PV are doubled

The city mayor assured that the main compromise of his third year of government is to continue working to solve what remains pending and overcome the objectives sketched during the last period of his administration.

As part of his Second Government’s Report, the city mayor of Vallarta indicated that during 2009 we expect moments of economic, social and political instability, though efforts will be doubled because our main objective is Puerto Vallarta.

In this course of matters he anticipated that next year the linear project of Rio Pitillal Park will be given continuity, “a major work looking to place itself as a novel attraction not only for Vallartenses but to visitors alike”, which means exploring new options for great touristic, social, ecologic and economic projects.

The continuation of the construction of Avenue Federación was also announced, a leading Project that in the future will be one of the city’s main traffic axes; as well as to continue negotiating the resources to begin the third phase of the Historic Center Rescue Project, in addition to the High Performance center at the Bobadilla sports facility providing it with a tartan course and a diving pool.
 
The construction of Ixtapa’s Health Center and the Avenida Los Poetas (Avenue of Poets) which will require an investment of 60 million pesos, a work that will allow the flow of traffic between Avenida Mexico (Mojoneras-Ixtapa) with Avenida Federación, to relieve traffic in the upper part of the town of El Pitillal.

2009 will also be a very special year, as he assured that Puerto Vallarta will be strengthened as of the next July elections.

The city mayor reiterated his gratitude to the state and federal governments as well as congress, for all the support towards this destination and emphasized that his compromise is only with Puerto Vallarta and its inhabitants, for whom he will continue to work.
