Port authorities to invest $17 Million Pesos on piers September 2010
The local Port Authorities (Administración Portuaria Integral - API) have earmarked $17 Million Pesos to change the two piers at Los Peines in the port that are more than 40 years old, replacing them with first-class floating ones. The piers can receive around 120 smaller crafts used for sportfishing and tours of the bay.
The work began at the beginning of the month after removing the boats that were not being used, and is expected to conclude in mid-December. The floating piers will be safer, allowing passengers to embark and disembark more easily as the fixed piers are more difficult to handle at low tide. The month of August was chosen for the work as it is the one with the least scheduled cruiseship arrivals. (Tribuna de la Bahia - Ubardo Aguilar) E-mail to a friend
