| Mexican Cuisine - Future Cultural Heritage of Humanity

 Mexican gastronomy is without any doubt one of the best ones in the world, rich thanks to its diversity of flavors, colors and smells and being unique. Dishes such as Mole Poblano, Chiles en nogada and pozole, are some of the most representative dishes of the Mexican cuisine. On September 21st and 22nd it was seeking to be acknowledged by the UNESCO as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Paris, France was the place where the gastronomical display take place with the participation of the typical dishes of Michoacan, Puebla and Oaxaca. The event is being coordinated by CONACULTA.
Within the frame of efforts achieved by the state of Michoacan in order to appreciate, spread, rescue and conserve its cultural heritage, the Government of this state will carry out an artistic exposition, an arts and crafts show and a gastronomical festival of Michoacan in the Bankers' Club of Mexico from August 31st to October 14th.
Michoacan has a very important role to play since its cuisine has enormous riches, divided into regions and it is a cuisine very worthwhile to get to know it. As a matter of fact dishes like "carnitas" are culinary contributions achieved by natives. Besides Mexico it is the only country where pork is transformed in such a way.
It is the group called Culinary Cultures that seek for Mexican food to be acknowledged as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity, presenting those dishes whose preparation make them unique and unequalled. In addition they have an ancestral preparation inherited from generation to generation.

La Gastronomía Mexicana Próximo patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad!

 La gastronomía mexicana es sin duda una de las mejores a nivel mundial, rica gracias a su diversidad de sabores, colores, y olores, es única. Platillos como el mole poblano, los chiles en nogada, el pozole, son sólo algunos de los platillos más representativos de la cocina mexicana, la cual los días 21 y 22 de septiembre se busco que la UNESCO la reconozca como Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad.
París, Francia fue el lugar donde se llevo a cabo la muestra gastronómica, donde participarán los platillos típicos de Michoacán, Puebla y Oaxaca, el evento fue coordinado por CONACULTA.
En el marco de los esfuerzos que realiza el estado de Michoacán para poner en valor, difundir, rescatar y conservar su patrimonio cultural, el Gobierno de este Estado realiza del 31 de agosto al 14 de octubre una exposición pictórica, una muestra artesanal y un festival de la gastronomía michoacana en el Club de Banqueros de México.
Michoacán tiene un papel importantísimo que hacer, ya que su cocina es de una riqueza enorme y dividida en regiones, y que es una cocina que vale mucho la pena conocer. De hecho platillos como las carnitas son aportaciones culinarias realizadas por lo indígenas, además de ser el único país donde la carne de cerdo se transforma de tal manera.
El grupo denominado Culturas Culinarias es quien busca que la comida mexicana sea reconocida como Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad, presentando los platillos cuya elaboración los hace únicos e inigualables, además de llevar una elaboración ancestral heredada de generación en generación.

Latin Jazz Festival - Mayan Riviera November 2005

 From November 17th to 19th the Mayan Riviera will be full of music due to the celebration of the Third Latin Jazz Festival, en event organized by the Fideocomiso for the Tourist Promotion of the Mayan Riviera, a party honored by great international artists creating a dreamlike ambience combining jazz music with the paradisiacal environment of this beautiful place of the Mexican Caribbean.
This is an event which is organized thanks to the efforts of the Hotel Association of the Mayan Riviera, the city council and the Fideocomiso (government office) for the Tourist Promotion of the region who have integrated a great musical project to be offered to the tourists as well as to the locals. This event is a great alternative to enrich the stay in the paradisiacal Caribbean place.
This year the festival will have the best 2 performers of Mexican jazz, Iraida Noriega and Magos Herrera who will share the stage in order to offer a concert that is presumed to be extraordinary. Said presentation will be open to the public. We will also get to know the new proposal of the local Latin jazz headed by Manolo. In addition Aguamala, the most popular group from Playa del Carmen, will perform again with its repertory of jazz-rock, besides they will be the hosts of the event.
The spectators may also enjoy the performance of Elizabeth Meza, Enrique Nery and Cristopher López, artists with a trajectory in jazz music. The Toussaint dynasty will be present at the Latin Jazz Festival led by Cecilia, who on this occasion will be accompanied by her brothers.
For the closing act of the event Ivan Lins - a true living legend of Brazilian music - will be presented in Playa Mamitas and Tukan without a cost for the public. He will be honoring us with his first visit to Mexico and will be accompanied on this exclusive occasion by the Toussaint brothers Enrique, Eugenio and Fernando who form the most important group of contemporary Mexican jazz called Sacbe.
That same day another musical legend will be present: the extraordinary group "Mint Condition" coming from Minneapolis, also on their first visit to Mexico. They are the most important vocal music group of the present scene. They conjugate elements of rhythm and blues, hip-hop and jazz in order to create one of the most original sounds of the moment which has earned them the first positions on the Billboard chart.
Nowadays the Mayan Riviera is one the of main quality tourist destinations offering its visitors a spectacular landscape and the beauty of its historical and cultural heritage. The Latin Jazz Festival 2005 without any doubt will be an event captivating the Mexican Caribbean.

Festival de Jazz Latino - Rivera Maya Noviembre 2005

Del 17 al 19 de noviembre la Riviera Maya estará llena de música, por la celebración del Tercer Festival de Jazz Latino, un evento organizado por el Fideicomiso de Promoción Turística de la Riviera Maya, una fiesta que se honra con grandes artistas internacionales los cuales crean un ambiente de ensueño combinando la música de jazz con el entorno paradisíaco de este bello lugar del Caribe Mexicano.
Este es un evento el cual se organiza gracias a los esfuerzos de la Asociación de Hoteles de la Riviera Maya, el H. Ayuntamiento y el Fideicomiso de Promoción Turística de la región, quienes han integrado un gran proyecto musical para ofrecer a los turistas como a los locales, siendo una gran alternativa para enriquecer la estancia en este paradisíaco lugar caribeño.
Este año el Festival tendrá a los dos mejores exponentes del jazz mexicano, Iraida Noriega y Magos Herrera, quienes compartirán el escenario para ofrecer un concierto que se presume será fuera de serie, dicha presentación será abierta a todo el público. También conoceremos la nueva propuesta de jazz latino local a cargo de Manelo, además el grupo consentido de Playa del Carmen, Aguamala se presentará nuevamente con su repertorio de jazz-rock, además de que serán los anfitriones del evento.
También los asistentes podrán disfrutar de la actuación de Elizabeth Meza, Enrique Nery y Cristóbal López, artistas con toda una trayectoria en la música jazz. La dinastía Toussaint estará presente en el Festival de Jazz Latino encabezada por Cecilia, quien en esta ocasión estará acompañada por sus hermanos.
Para el cierre del evento se presentarán sin costo para el público en Playa Mamitas y Tukan, Iván Lins una verdadera leyenda viva de la música brasileña que nos honrará en su primera visita a México, y estará acompañado en esta única ocasión por Los hermanos Toussaint: Enrique, Eugenio y Fernando que conforman el grupo más importante de jazz contemporáneo mexicano llamado Sacbé.
Ese mismo día otra leyenda musical se hará presente la extraordinaria agrupación proveniente de Minneapolis "Mint Condition", también en su primera visita a México. Ellos son el grupo músico-vocal más importante de la escena actual; conjugan elementos del rythm and blues, hip-hop y jazz para crear uno de los sonidos más originales del momento que les ha valido las primeras posiciones de la lista Billboard.
Hoy en día la Riviera Maya es uno de los principales destinos turísticos de calidad, ofreciendo a sus visitantes un paisaje espectacular y la belleza de su patrimonio histórico y cultural. El Festival de Jazz Latino 2005 sin duda será un evento que cautivara al Caribe Mexicano.

San Juan de Los Lagos - Home of the Pilgrims

Located in the area known as Los Altos de Jalisco we find San Juan de los Lagos, a city founded in the first half of the 17th century, an area with cattle raising, agriculture and aviculture, which has a mild and rainy climate throughout the whole year.
The industrial part of San Juan de los Lagos is engaged in the production of milk byproducts such as cheese, jamoncillo and cream. In the commercial aspect it is harness workshops and embroidery which stand out.
 San Juan de los Lagos is known world-wide for the Colegiata, the parish church that is visited day after day by thousands of pilgrims worshipping the image of the Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos which had been brought to Mexico by Fray Antonio de Segovia in the year 1623 and which is made of bagasse of sugar cane. The Colegiata is the Cathedral Basilica whose altar early on was created for the church of Saint Mary of the Angels in Rome, thus being a piece of incalculable worth. This temple also has paintings by Rubens, which are found in the side room of the Virgin.
But the beauty of San Juan de los Lagos is not limited to the Colegiata since it has other religious and civic buildings with a great historical and architectural value such as the Parian, the City Hall, the ancient College Palace, the buildings of the post office and of the tithes, the Tavern of the Virgin and the parish temples of Pocito, the third order of San Francis, the Calvary etc.
The main celebration of the place is the Spring Festival which are celebrated from May 21st to 31st. Besides the religious aspect, there are cultural, social and sports events as well as a huge exposition of arts and crafts.
The religious tourist appeal of the place lies in the devotion to the Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos. Due to this today the region has more and a better hotel infrastructure. It is the biggest of the whole area of Los Altos de Jalisco.

San Juan de Los Lagos - El Hogar de Los Peregrinos

Ubicado en la zona conocida como Los Altos de Jalisco se encuentra San Juan de los Lagos, una ciudad fundada en la primera mitad del Siglo XVII, una zona ganadera, agrícola y avícola, la cual cuenta con un clima templado y lluvioso durante todo el año.
La parte industrial de San Juan de los Lagos se dedica a la producción de derivados de la leche como quesos, jamoncillos y cremas, en el aspecto comercial destacan la talabartería y los bordados.
San Juan de los Lagos es mundialmente conocida por la Colegiata, la parroquia que día a día es visitada por miles de peregrinos quienes veneran a la imagen de la Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos, la cual fue traída a México por Fray Antonio de Segovia en el año de 1623, la cual está realizada de gabazo de caña.
La Colegiata es la Catedral Basílica, cuyo altar en un principio fue realizado para la iglesia de Santa María de los Ángeles, en Roma, siendo una pieza con un valor incalculable, este templo también cuenta con pinturas de Rubens, las cuales se encuentran en el camarín de la Virgen.
Pero la belleza de San Juan de los Lagos no se limita a la Colegiata, ya que cuenta con otros edificios religiosos y civiles con un gran valor histórico y arquitectónico como: El Parián, el Palacio Municipal, el Antiguo Palacio del Colegio, los edificios de correos y de los Diezmos, el Mesón de la Virgen y los templos parroquiales del Pocito, la Tercera orden de San Francisco, el Calvario, etcétera.
El principal festejo del lugar son las Fiestas de la Primavera que se celebran del 21 al 31 de mayo, donde aparte del aspecto religioso, también hay eventos culturales, sociales, culturales y deportivos, así como una gran exposición artesanal.
La devoción a la Virgen de San Juan de los Lagos es donde radica el atractivo turístico religioso del lugar, por lo cual hoy la región cuenta con una mayor y mejor infraestructura hotelera, la cual es la más grande en toda la zona de los Altos de Jalisco.
