Notimex - La jornada | Translation by Eduardo Rincón Gallardo - March 2008
Within the context of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Revolution and 200th anniversary of the Independence, the Government Palace of the State of Durango will be converted into the Centennial Museum of General Francisco Villa.
Built with federal and state funds, the museum will show the life of the revolutionary hero and the history of the state, as well as the role of the state of Durango in the future of the country.
This initiative was released by governor Ismael Hernández Deras before the national coordinator for the Bicentennial Celebrations, Rafael Tovar y de Teresa, who while touring Durango attested to the installation of the state committee for said celebrations and received their working program.
The state program involves civic formation activities geared at citizens, mainly students, meetings with experts, exhibits, debates, conferences and publications to strengthen collective memory. Email to a friend
