President Calderón Inaugurates
St. Regis Hotel in Mexico City

Mexico City.- President Felipe Calderón visited the St. Regis Hotel in Mexico City, located in Paseo de la Reforma 439, to lead its inauguration.
 The arrival of St. Regis in the country will help to boost confidence in the sector in the national economy and the certainty that tourism will continue to be one of the activities with the greatest potential for growth in Mexico. This industry is vital for the country and thanks to the joint work of government and businesses such as Group 1818, Ideurban and Starwood, it is possible to achieve joint investment and create decent jobs that will encourage our investment.The investment totaled $150 million dollars, and created 400 direct and 800 indirect jobs.

At the beginning of this year, St. Regis Punta Mita, opened in Nayarit with 189 rooms, creating 300 direct jobs in the region. and involving a $100 million USD investment by Ideurban and Starwood. St. Regis Kanai is planned for the Riviera Maya in 2012 with a similar investment with Grupo ALHEL and GIM Desarrollos.
During the first quarter of 2010, Grupo ALHEL will open the Westin Santa Fe with 256 rooms and an approximate investment of 70 million dollars. And in 2011, Grupo ALHEL will open Westin Guadalajara, with 250 rooms and a similar investment to the previous hotel.
There are currently 19 St. Regis hotels worldwide, including one in Mexico City, one in the state of Nayarit (Punta Mita) while another is scheduled for the Maya Riviera (Kanai). After the United States, Mexico has the largest number of hotels, over 15% of the total. By way of additional information: USA has 9 (New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Aspen, Atlanta, Deer Crest, Houston, Monarch Beach (Southern California) and Hawaii), China has 2 (Beijing and Shanghai), French Polynesia has 1 (Bora Bora), Singapore has 1 , Indonesia has 1 (Bali), the United Kingdom has 1 (London), Italy has 1(Rome) , and Spain has 1 (Mallorca).
