- President leads Presentation of Routes of Mexico and declares that his government has embarked on a new stage of promoting tourism.
During the presentation of Routes of Mexico, at an event led by President Felipe Calderón, President of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (CONCANACO-SERVyTUR), Jorge Dávila Flores, congratulated the President on his speech to the US congress on Thursday, which he regarded as a clear example of what speaking well of Mexico involves.
Addressing entrepreneurs from the tourist sector, he said that, "This speech touched on crucial issues in our relationship with the United States: migration and respect for migrants, joint responsibility by the two nations in fighting drug trafficking and the urgent need for the control of indiscriminate arms sales in the United States. On the northern border alone, there are seven thousand stores on the US side alone that sell weapons indiscriminately."
He said that CONCANACO-SERVyTUR is enthusiastically promoting the "Let's Speak Well of Mexico" campaign as a means of highlighting the advantages of Mexico and above all, its inhabitants.
In view of this, he added, “On behalf of the 650,000 firms affiliated to the 254 Chambers of Commerce affiliated to our Confederation, I offer you my sincerest congratulations."
During his address, President Felipe Calderón said that his government has begun a new stage of promoting tourism in Mexico .
He explained that Mexico has been truly blessed and has benefitted from its enormous natural, cultural and human wealth."
We have an enormous range of natural and cultural tourist attractions, which I know will surprise you, and I congratulate you. I thank you for agreeing to be with us. And hope that you will one day try some of the ten routes presented by the Tourism Secretary," he said.
But, he added, "In my mind, the most important, beautiful and attractive aspect of Mexico is not the sun or the beaches or the sea or the forests or the woods or even the age-old cathedrals and pyramids. The most beautiful aspect of Mexico , which you should enjoy, is Mexican hospitality. Our Mexican genes, as I explained earlier, are designed to receive people.” Email to a friend
