Government Seeks to Promote
Mexico's Image Worldwide: FCH

Presidencia de La Republica • July 2010

• Announces creation of 445,000 new jobs from January to May
• Inaugurates hotel in Baja California Sur with $240 million USD investment

San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur.- President Felipe Calderón declared that his government is working on an integral publicity project to promote Mexico's image in every sphere, thereby boosting national tourism.

San Jose del Cabo“In my government, we are promoting an integral advertising and public relations campaign, for which we have contracted the world’s best agencies to promote Mexico’s image. It will explain the problems we have as well as the way we are dealing with them but above all, it will show what our country has to offer visitors from all over the world, which is a great deal,” he explained.

During the inauguration of the Barceló Hotel in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur, the Mexican president also announced the creation of 445,000 new jobs between January and May of this year.

“This means that if we go on like this, we will have created half a million new jobs in Mexico in just over half a year. This is also good news for the country.

And here in Baja California, the figure reached nearly three thousand jobs, several of which are in the tourist sector," he explained.

Accompanied by State Governor Narciso Agúndez Montaño, Tourism Secretary Gloria Guevara Manzo, and Director of ProMéxico, Bruno Ferrari García de Alba, President Calderón stated that the hotel inaugurated today involved a $240 million USD investment and created 700 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs.

“Federal Government, which I have the honor to lead, is firmly committed to tourism and we will continue working with you to develop what is a key sector and job creator in our economy," he said.Email to a friend
