Buy Art... Create A Leader
Located within the international departure terminal of Puerto Vallarta International Airport, Ports of Art is a creative new project which exposes local and international artists to millions of potential customers. The Ports of Art program seeks to humanize and enhance the environment of the airport thus enriching the traveler's experience, whilst raising money for Fundación Aire Fresco, a children's organization that has worked with thousands of local children. FAF invites these children to attend camps during the summer, Easter and Christmas vacations as well as running intensive workshops throughout the year. These programs give young people the chance to participate in diverse activities aimed at developing skills in the areas of leadership, ecology, sports and the arts.
Ports of Art will display the work of hundreds of international artists including: Rogelio Díaz (Mexico), Manuel Adriá (Spain), Patrick Denoun (France), Frederico Fiorentini (Italy), Cherie Lynn Sibley (USA) and Patti Gallardo (Canada) amongst others. The works of art on display, as well as the artists involved will be rotated throughout the year. Ports of Art will also organize special exhibitions for temporary display, beginning with African American Art from Harlem, New York followed by a presentation of Chinese Watercolors. All art on display, as well as other pieces by the featured artists is available for sale online at www.artfaf.org where further information about Fundación Aire Fresco and its children's programs is also available.
Ports of Art will soon be expanding to Guadalajara International Airport where it will open with a special exhibition of abstract art in December. Projects in John F. Kennedy Airport, New York and Los Cabos International Airport are scheduled to open in 2009.
