Puerto Vallarta’s Sister Cities—Highland Park
The Highland Park sister cities committee made an official visit to our city headed by Mayor Michael Belsky.
The main goal was to further and cultivate goodwill and brotherhood relationships between both cities’ authorities, creating friendship links and mutual collaboration interchanges as well as supporting private groups with common goals.
City mayor Lic. Javier Bravo Carvajal offered a welcome dinner to introduce the heads of securuty, public services, firemen and delegates from both cities.
Carol Wolfe, president of the Highland Park committee, gave a donation to Puerto Vallarta’s first lady Aleyda Bravo Carvajal for the Family’s Integral Development Program (DIF). During said dinner both committees planned to organize a gala dinner concert with Highland Park’s string orchestra for the benefit of DIF.
The Puerto Vallarta―Highland Park sister cities committee president Danilo Rottigni, invited all to work on a long term program, searching for areas of opportunity and leadership in both cities and to establish commitments that transcend every administration’s changes, “now it is possible as we have the good will of both mayors in pursuit of the common good for both cities, both mayors have stood out in their support to youth, sports, culture and education”.
Carol Wolfe said: “I am very excited at the great achivement of bringing together the high commands of the city’s most important areas, to work and contribute to this city we love so much”.
At dinner’s end city mayor Javier Bravo invited the mayor of Highland Park to the cutting of the ribbon ceremony inaugurating the Fiestas de Mayo (May Festivals).
The next day they met again at the City Hall to formalize the working and cooperation plan between both cities. In reference to tourism, the new Puerto Vallarta video was presented, it will be promoted among all the Highland Park community through its local and cable TV networks. Javier Bravo Carvajal delivered significant gifts to Highland Park´s city mayor and authorities.
City mayors Javier Bravo and Michael Belsky who head the working teams of Alan Wax and Alfredo Rivas (Firemen chiefs), Mary Anderson and Juan Pablo García (City public services), Paul Shafer and Armando Partida (police chiefs), Terri Olian and Lizeth Franco (delegates), celebrated this long term mutual cooperation agreement.
Both mayors spent the rest of the day together, taking the opportunity to tour important areas of the city and establish a work pattern to follow .
Puerto Vallarta’s committee offered a dinner where Danilo Rottigni delivered, in the name of his committee, a recognition to Highland Park’s authorities for their good will and support in developing the working plan for the sister cities.
The program’s closure was held during a breakfast offered by Highland Park’s mayor at La Palapa restaurant with the surprise invitation of Floralia Estrada, paralympic vallartense sportswoman, whose support is being promoted.
There are several activities to develop during the year; the design of a theme park by experts in the field; three concerts by Highland Park’s strings orchestra; two for free and one for the benefit of DIF; a painting contest, the purchase of a sports-wheelchair for Floralia; a students interchange to participate in the Ravinia International Festival; sports matches and a direct working plan of municipal authorities on the areas of improvement for both cities.Email to a friend
