Why Vallarta is your best option By Charlie Rondont • Photos by Jesus de Avila • June 2009
The world is comprised of a multitude of desirable locations and destination, each possessing its own particular attractions and charm. So when you are venturing out in Mexico to find that "special place" to make your won, what do you look for?
What do I need? as everyone has varied opinions and taste, individual criteria differs as well. Usual qualifications for properties include: view, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, pool, parking, pet friendly, etc. once your basic list is complete, geography come into play. Mexico boats many magnificent areas to offer you.
The east has Cancun, Mayan Corridor, Isla Mujeres and Cozumel. Here you get the azure Caribbean waters and lush tropical forests. You are also in an area in which you must consider the distinct possibility of hurricane activity. Mother Nature flexes her muscles in the Caribbean quite frequently.
You then have Acapulco on the west coast. This was one of the original Jet Set destinations. Cliff diving, lovely beaches and well established tourist facilities can be found here. This is however a very large population and aging infrastructure. It is also on the somewhat exposed ocean shore.
Cabo San Lucas provides attractive aspects as well. It is a relatively easy drive down the Baja Peninsula. his is primarily a desert area which receives its fair share of storms and hurricanes. The tip of the peninsula is completely exposed to the ocean with its often explosively destructive tendencies. You can he somewhat limited in the activities department as well. Of you aren't a golfer, fisherman or sailor you may find pretty sleep until the night life wakes up.
The Vallarta Corridor stretches from Boca de Tomatlán in the south, some says as far as Carreyes, to La Peñita de Jaltempa on the Riviera Nayarit coast north of Punta de Mita. This large expanse of territory contains a myriad of terrains and topographies which provide enough diversity to offer something for practically everyone. Vallarta is well sheltered by the Sierra Madre mountains and sits on the shore of a deep water anchorage called La Bahia de Banderas or the Bay of Flags. Nature can strike here as anywhere else but her hand proves gentler than in most areas. Mountains covered by lush tropical vegetation, dryer flatlands and inviting sandy beaches contribute to the charm, attractiveness and marketability of Puerto Vallarta.
Great dining, bird, whale and dolphin watching, horseback riding, championship golf, and fishing merely scratch the surface when referring to available activities and amenities. It is also an easy two day drive from the U.S. border. Not enough? How about the growth and popularity that Vallarta has experienced over the last several years? Property values continue to rise making Puerto Vallarta an excellent investment value.
When you gather and consider all of the pluses found the P.V. region, the other options for your future vacation/retirement home begin to wither and fade. There are no perfect places in this world but you can't get much closer than sunny Vallarta! Email to a friend
